‘You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”
Last weekend it was all about Kipper as he turned one! I know I can hardly believe it myself. It was hard for Monkey. He has struggled a little with his new brothers arrival, having to share us, having to share the attention. And I knew his Birthday weekend would hit him particularly hard. And it did in a way. Although we spoke about how Kipper would be the centre of attention for guests and that he would get presents and Monkey would not get any until his Birthday next month. I also spent time going over his baby book, birthday book, first Birthday questionnaire and chalkboard poster. So he realised we had done all the things we were doing for Kipper, once already. For him. I also let him blow the candles out on Kippers cake.
To be honest he coped much better than I thought he would. I have really seen the bond start to develop between them and even now they seem to like to gang up on me! He loves to feed his little brother and will happily share anything. I can only hope that over the coming months play will help grow the bond further.
As for Kipper his party was a lot more of a chilled out affair than Monkeys first Birthday, with a Peter Rabbit Theme! Hence the bunny outfit below. The afternoon went well with close friends and family, good food and the children playing in the garden. There were a few personal touches that I will be sharing soon on the blog. But how cute is this outfit?
