As part of my preparations for our impending arrival I have been thinking about all of the keepsakes I made and kept for Monkey. You can find the full list in my Baby Keepsakes for the first 12 months post. One of the items was a photo album I complied for Monkey’s first birthday which held all his ‘first’ photos. 1. Aww these moments just fly by and how organised you must have been! Very impressed. I did a scrapbook of moments but didn’t get them all. Lovely ideas xx #twinklytuesday

  2. I love those milestone carrds, think they are great for helping you record the firsts. I wish they were about when I had my three. Almost makes me broody again!

  3. All of these are amazing suggestions to commemorate a baby’s first year on earth. I like the idea of their first ice lolly.

  4. I haven’t even ticked half of them. Some stuff we haven’t even done yet but I am pretty organised when it comes to putting the photos into each month folder and first things like Christmas and birthday.

  5. Awwww lovely ideas! My folks made me a scrap book on my first birthday with clipping of the places we visited and quotes. We took loads of photos with our NCT lot! #TwinklyTuesday x

  6. Lisa (Travel Loving Family) Reply

Aw there are some lovely ideas for first photos here:) I am guilty of taking lots in the first few months and then hardly any apart from holidays ever since!

  7. Jenni - Odd Socks and Lollipops Reply

Aww so many lovely ideas, I have taken so many photos of Boo – and I haven’t deleted a single one – even the blurry ones! I wish we had more photos of myself and Boo though, only have about 5!

  8. Aww I love this. I wish I had done something like this for Leo. I take so many photos of Leo but I haven’t made an album yet and he’s 2 and a half! All lovely ideas, will try and do it if I ever have a second child. Good luck with baby number 2 xx #TwinklyTuesday

  9. Aww, what a great list! You got so many brilliant memories! With Mikey, I took so many and organised them all in an album. I have taken a lot of Dot, but they are yet to be printed!

    Laura Xx

  10. Oh that is such a lovely idea and I wish i’d done the same – beautiful keepsake memories. One thing my dad did for all 3 of my children was take a beautiful photo in black and white every month of their first year and give it to me in a beautiful album on their first birthday – such a keepsake for both them and me. Loving all the posts on this new linky #bloggerclubuk x

  11. Since having my 2nd and last I have tried to take as many pictures of first times as I can get. I want to capture every moment. I love some of the ideas above though. x

  12. Lovely ideas – I have so many photos from her first year but never quite got around to making an album. One day. ..!

  13. Great list! I bet that’s a fab album to look back on. I used Flickr for all my photos from SB’s first year. By her first birthday there was about 18,000 pictures… I got a little snap happy haha! #BloggerClubUK

Oh I miss those baby days, I guess there are still first for us but not so many now they are 6, 8 and 11. #BloggerclubUK

  15. So many lovely ideas! I’ve taken so many photos so probably captured most of these, but I do wish I’d taken more video of the early days – we love to look back on those now #bloggerClubUK

  16. Wow, what a list – it really makes you realise how quickly babies develop in the first year. I love that you got a 4 generations together photo, what a lovely thing to have 🙂

  17. What a lovely idea! I got my friends My First Baby Book for her first born, but these ideas are wonderful thank you for hosting #BloggersClubUK xxx

  18. What a lovely idea. I was really good with doing it with my first child, and then have been rubbish with my next two daughters. It’s been in my to-do list for so long!! xx #bloggerclubUK

  19. I love the picture of your baby at the top. Him sitting with Christmas lights is adorable! I have all of those pictures of both of my boys:) Every now and then I will pull out their baby albums and relive those moments with them as I share the pictures with them, telling them stories of themselves when they were babies. My teenager isn’t too interested in that but my 9 year old loves reminiscing with me! #bloggerclubuk

  20. The Anxious Dragon Reply

This is a lovely way to keep those memories. I have some of those pohtos in my collection, but not all of them #bloggerclubuk

  21. Who says babies never do anything! That is a pretty full list. My youngest was baptised before his first birthday…perhaps if you are thinking of a baptism you could add that? Good luck with your new addition! x #bloggerclubuk

What a lovely album this will be to look back on (and show future girlfriends lol). I love that you got a four generation photo, they are so special 🙂 Thanks for hosting #UKBloggersClub

This is a lovely list. Thanks for sharing! I really hope one day i have a baby and when i do i’ll be visiting here for ideas. lol

  24. Angela / Only Crumbs Remain Reply

Lovely list. When our god son was born, we bought his parents a beautiful wooden box engraved with the baby’s name ready to keep all of those momentos – lock of hair, first baby tooth lost, hospital wrist band etc. #BloggerClubUK

Wow, Clare – you are so organised! Monkey is going to have so much to enjoy looking back over. I always find I am rarely in the photos with my children – that is something I would like to do more of 🙂 #BloggerClubUK

  26. I wish I’d have done this with my two boys. Time goes so quickly. My friends recently had a little boy I’ll have to share this with her x

  27. All fabulous ideas. I really need to get on the ball and take some new ones of my little ones. Especially since one just had a birthday. I took my camera one day to get some of them all playing in the snow but it started to rain and of course I didn’t have an umbrella in the truck to cover my camera. grrrr. But one of my goals for the spring is to take family photos. I have been saving a particular wall spot just for them. Congrats on your soon to be addition to the family. Hope you are feeling well. And congrats on the new linky…looks as if it is successful already! ?Trista

As I read this, I couldn’t help but picture my little girl and her first photographs! I have a lot of these, and now I wish I had taken some more, with this suggestion list at hand! One thing to add to the list would be first haircut 🙂 #bloggerclubuk

  29. we missed out on doing something special for first baby photos! makes me want another one so we can do some of these! so cute! #BloggerclubUK

  30. Great idea for a first birthday! I think I might pinch this for Baby Lighty’s first birthday too! Thanks for hosting #bloggerclubuk 🙂

  31. Unhinged Mummy (aka Janine Woods) Reply

What great 0hotis you must have. I wish I had thought to do this bit I’m the type of mum who always forgets until after the event and then I’m like “I wish I had taken a photo of that”. You must be so much more organised than I am lol

    Thanks for hosting #bloggersclubUK

  32. Kate Tunstall, Refined Prose Reply

What a lovely idea. There’s something rather quaint about an old-fashioned album with tangible pages you can leaf through. Maybe next time (!) I’ll do something similar. #BloggersClubUK

  33. Oh my goodness, so many firsts! You did well to have the presence of mind to take a photo every time – I always realise after the event that it would have been a good idea to take a photo! Will have to work on this once the baby arrives! #BloggersClubUK

  34. This a lovely idea. As a mummy and a photographer I know how it important it is to document every milestone and little detail as they grow way too fast!

  35. These are such wonderful ideas, I wish I’d seen a list like this before having my girls. I’ve missed so many photo opportunities over the past 2 years!

    Thank you for hosting #BloggerClubUK

  36. Love the ideas. I didn’t take too many photos when N was a baby, not until I got a better phone and started blogging.

  37. Ah love this! I have a gazillion pictures and have no idea what albums to arrange them in! This has given me inspiration for a first years type one for Arjun! Thank you and congrats on the launch of a brilliant linky!x

  38. THAT is a brilliant list. I am assuming though that the first wedding means the first one he attended as opposed to his own 😉

  39. Great ideas! I’ve only managed to do a few when my 5-year old was little and it’s all in her baby book:) Your little one is adorable 🙂 #bloggersclubuk

  40. anywaytostayathome Reply

I don;t think you can take enough photos! My favourite ‘first’ that I captured was his first ice cream, the face was superb! #BloggersClubUK

  41. newmummyblogcom Reply

They’re really such special moments! Great tips and I’m impressed you got them all 🙂 I love your idea of putting all the photos in an album on their own. I have some in H’s baby book, but I have been meaning to do one of those printed photobooks of those and our main moments. #bloggerclubuk

  42. What a lovely idea! If only I had read this a year ago! That first year fly’s by doesn’t it?! Kinley turned one in December and it feels crazy to think I had a newborn in the house a year ago! 🙁 #bloggerclubUK

  43. Becky, Cuddle Fairy Reply

You are so good about keeping the beautiful memories! These are firsts that will be fun to show Monkey when he’s older. I did pretty well with my first born but things started to slip with the second & my third child’s book still isn’t finished. Thanks so much for co-hosing with me lovely! x

  44. amytreasure0 Reply

Oh this is so lovely! I am going to feature it this week on #thelist there are so many amazing ideas. Thanks for linking up x
