My Pregnancy – Week 24 with Antiphospholipid Syndrome
This is the next instalment of our pregnancy journey. The below are extracts from my journal which I have written each week (I am now 27 weeks). You can read about how I felt when we found out here and our 20 week scan here. I will be posting other weeks extracts in the coming days (normally a Thursday). Week 23 went by in a blur, it was the first one back at work in my new role and I have a feeling my quiet-ish lead up to maternity leave is unlikely to happen. It was very busy with lots of new clients to meet. Week 24 has been similar although I did actually get the chance to write some of it down!
We did it the milestone I have been longing to get to for ages and its finally here. With the promotion work has ben so busy that I didn’t even really get a chance to celebrate. As Monday night I drove up to Warwick for a two day conference. The following evening was a black tie event. Now what do you wear to a black tie event when 6 months pregnant? Well after trying to adapt things in my wardrobe and trying a couple of high street dresses with no success I decided to throw caution to the wind and splash out on a Tiffany Rose dress. I literally ordered if a few days before and thankfully it fitted really well. I love it so much that I am hoping that I will be able to get it altered after pregnancy
Its just as well really as I ended up getting up on stage to accept an award for player’s player which made me feel very special. Albeit I was very nervous of the steps in a dress slightly too long and 4 inch heels! I managed to stay up and party until just before midnight, I left a number of my colleagues in the bar and felt a little jealous pang when returning to my hotel room. To be honest at 6 months I have finally started to miss the red wine, still not to the extent that I am partaking! Being away from home and still unable to get over the mental block of giving myself the herprin injections my dear friend volunteered. She was brilliant and neither came up in a bruise, maybe a female touch but she did it a lot slower. I mentioned this to hubby when I got home and he has started to do the same. I think the fact he just wanted to get it over and done with as quickly as possible has meant he unintentionally jabs the needle more, and I must say its working. The bruising is considerably less. I may not have to wait until after the birth to go for a leg scrub now.
The work load is mental but I am really enjoying it, I seem to remember something similar happening last time round when I was pregnant with Monkey. Everything seemed to take off at the wrong time. However in the new role my future is much more secure within the business which is reassuring. Mudpie Fridays also seems to suddenly be taking off in December I received close to 12500 views and my social media channels are picking up new followers in their own right. Bearing in mind I do all this in the evenings I am excited about where its going but most nights I don’t have the energy to spend writing posts all I can mange is a few Facebook threads. I know its temporary but I find it frustrating and I am worried its starting to come through in the quality of my posts. I have already started side lining projects for when I am on maternity leave.
Post Christmas we were due to start the re-orgnaisation of our upstairs space as Monkey is still in the nursery. I have reluctantly agreed than rather than moving us into the spare room we will move Monkey in there. Which means we now have two bedrooms to redecorate. A splash of paint would not be an issue, but our bedroom will need wall papering and the sheer amount of decluttering which needs to be done, probably means a whole week spent sorting. I honestly don’t think we have thrown anything away for the eight years we have been here. However we have made a start getting rid of one of the beds and emptying the divan donating old bedding and towels to a local animal rescue centre. Last time I was pregnant we built an orangery, re carpeted through out, decorated, papered and brought new furniture for the spare room, hallway and lounge and had a new fireplace put in. So I shouldn’t really be concerned by the fact that we only have two rooms to do!
Pip wise he’s moving more and more. I have definitely noticed a pattern to the movements and he tends to wake me around five in the morning wriggling around. I don’t have any new cravings as such, although I am eating more which has resulted in gaining a few 100g which means I am only about a kilo off the weight I was when I feel pregnant. I have been a little put off my the lack of weight gain in general so I am glad to see a little going on. I have been particularly rubbish at taking photos this time round, we only have one of my bump at 18 weeks. I am determined to get some more in the later stages though otherwise Pip’s pregnancy diary is going to look pretty boring!
