Kids Dress-Up Ride-on Dragon – I have always encouraged Monkey to play dressing up. When we moved him out of the nursery and into his new big boy room we brought a dressing up rail. I had wanted one for him for a while as his dressing up clothes up to this point had been packed away in the playroom in a storage box. There are a number of benefits to playing dress up such as:
- Helps develop imagination and story telling capabilities, by putting on a costume they can act out their perceptions of what a police officer, firefighter, chef or in this case a dragon gets up to
- Helps them to understand relationships, by pretending to be someone else they are putting themselves in someone else’s shoes.
- Improves communication through role playing their character
- If playing in a group it also strengthens cooperation skills, taking turns, sharing and general socialisation
- It can even develop problem solving skills…
Needless to say Monkey has his fair share of dressing up clothes, but we are always on the look out for more. So when Tickled Pink Fancy Dress got in contact and asked if we would like to review something I was delighted. I was very impressed as they have wide selection of outfits, some darling animal onesies, a wide range of disney and superheroes as you would expect and some appropriate seasonally fancy dress be that Christmas or Halloween. Ive already noted they have World Book Day costumes and a great selection of adult dress up too.
So what did we think?
Firstly the delivery is super quick, just want you need if like me you leave Birthday present buying or costume hunting to the last minute. There are also a number of items on the website which are delivered for free.
As soon as he saw it Monkey was super excited and I think these rather bad photos show just how excited, as he was took busy roaring to stand still.
The costume has a velcro side fastening and is held onto the body with shoulder straps that cross over at the back. The are adjustable, the recommend age is 3+ at four Monkey needs the straps on the smallest size. There is a strap just on the head which can be held or looped around the wrist to pull the head of the costume up. There are also elasticated rings on the ends of the wings so you can ‘fly’.
I think the quality is brilliant, its hard to see in the photos but the main body is made from a bluey, greeny textured velvet which looks like dragon scales. The wings are a shiny red material and the dragons horns are black and shiny with silver flecks, there are also some royal blue spines. The legs and arms are well padded and it certainly survived Monkey’s determination to make the Dragon fly!
I can’t wait to see him playing Knights and Dragons with his little fiends!
As I mentioned Tickled Pink have a wide range of costumes and dressing up outfits for children and adults alike. With Halloween round the corner you may want to visit their online store to view their Halloween kids costumes. The Ride on Dragon is currently on offer at £27.99.

We were given the Dragon Ride on costume for the purpose of this review, however as always all words and opinions are my own.
