Welcome back to week fifteenth of #RememberingTheseDays Instagram community. The place to share your precious family memories. I host this community with the lovely Laura over at Life with Baby Kicks.
Whatever the memory, or life event you want to record, joining in is simple, just tag your favourite photos #RememberingTheseDays over on Instagram. Each Sunday Laura and I will choose our four favourites. Please follow Mudpie Fridays here and Life with Baby Kicks here on Instagram to see if you have been featured.
Each Saturday when I go in to choose my favourites and make sure I have liked every photo with the tag, I always try to guess how many we will be up to. I was excited this week to see that we are now over 6600! In fifteen short weeks which is fantastic. When we started we had no idea if people would use it and it was a little nerve racking! I saw other hashtags announcing they had reached over 10,000 and couldn’t see how we would ever reach it. Now I know we are still a way off but since we have had over 600 tags this week alone it doesn’t seem entirely impossible any more. So a big thank you to all of you who continue to use #RememberingTheseDays.
I am so loving the Autumnal theme and decided to use it for my favourite for this week. I am STILL very jealous of the pumpkin pictures and wondering when we can fit in a trip to a picking field soon otherwise there won’t be any left! I can’t believe we have not been already, I guess thats just adapting to the fact that Monkey is now at school and we are far too tired for any adventures after at the moment.
From top left to bottom right:
- Loving the pumpkin family shot by @sparklesandstretchmarks there are some other gorgeous ones on her feed so why not pop over for a look.
- I am not sure if it is the hat, the leaves or the way it is shot but this photo taken by @woodlightadventures is simply beautiful
- Its not too early for Halloween outfits right? Such a cutie @fivelittledoves and I am really liking the tights, I must try and find some in an adult size!
- There is nothing like a stick and a shadow to keep a little one entertained, great capture by the lovely @babiesbiscuitsandbooze
Please pop over and visit their feeds by clicking on the names above.
My favourite from my feed is this one of Monkey from Hatchlands Park last weekend. He is soooo ready for half term. Its funny I remember hearing people say that about their kids and thinking to myself what does that mean? But I now so get it!! He woke up yesterday morning and was delighted to remember not only is he not going to school because its the weekend he also has a whole week off!

This one is so stubborn but sometimes I can play that to my favour. I have been practising some HDR photos in my photography class. My teacher reliably informed me that it is not something you can do with children as they don't stay still enough for the three exposures. Monkey proved him wrong – I think this face says it all!!
My favourite from Laura’s feed this week is this one of their beautiful evening walk, to have family time together no matter where you are in the world is precious. However I can see the temptation in the weather, what a glorious shot!

Expat living might not be for everyone, and it definitely has its ups and downs. Homesickness. Red tape. Learning to love a new country, a new culture. Settling into your new roles whatever they may be. The boys being unsettled, never really having roots down. People often ask why we do it. Is it the money, the lifestyle, the fact that we live in summer all year long? Then you see photos like this, taken on our evening family walk around the compound on a cat hunt, one that all four of us went on. Our children running wild and free (within limits) with myself and my husband walking behind and those perfect moments are why we choose to be here. Why we choose to be an expat.
Come and join in by using the hashtag #RememberingTheseDays, and please pass this tag to your Instagram buddies. I would be over the moon if we reached 7200 by this time next week!! Please share the tag with your buddies, they do not need to be bloggers to join in, everyone is welcome. Laura and I may well have a surprise for you all next week, as we have been thinking of ways to grow the community and ensure everyone is getting something back for joining with us…so watch this space!!
Which one is your favourite? I would love to hear in the comments below.
