DreamToys Top 12 Toys of Christmas 2016

This morning Kipper and I travelled to London for the launch of DreamToys  Top 12 Toys of Christmas. All around the room there were TV screens up with counting down to the big day, kiddies running around playing with all the toys on offer specifically for journalist photos, a Santa, the Tele Tubbies and of course toys, toys and more toys.

The event which predicts the biggest selling toys this Christmas, starts with a list of  of 68 which is then whittled down to the top 12 by a panel of leading toy retailers in the UK. If you want to see the full list its now available as an app – just search DreamToys 2016 in your relevant app store . The list has been split down into different categories to make navigation easier.

So… onto the top 12, you will be pleased to know that price wise its not just the expensive things which have made the cut. RRPs vary from £19.99 to £99.99, which means there should be something for everyones pocket:

Its great to see the huge variety that this list represents, some brands which are well known to us such as Lego and Hasbro and some which are not. I know for a fact that Monkey has his eye on the Paw Patrol Air Patroller since he is such a big fan and had a Paw Patrol themed party this year. Saying that the only thing on his Christmas list is a Hatchimal! If your little ones are the same then you will know like I do that currently it is an impossibility to get your hands on one. So I used the event as an excuse to ask the question and you will be relieved to hear like me that more stock is planned and will be winging its way to the high street retailers by the big day. Saying that if I see one I’m buying it … although it has to be a green one apparently!

Many of the press releases today made specific reference to the fact that there is a large number of collectable toys featured in both the top 12 but also the full list of 68. The good news with this is some of the blind bags make excellent stocking fillers and so a present can be found for every budget. For me its interesting to see collectables driving demand as Monkey is yet to hit that phase, although I am sure he will at some point.

To celebrate the launch of this list and because I am feeling festive myself I have decided to run a giveaway to win one of these Top 12 toys – Worlds Apart SelfMic, which would make the perfect Christmas present for a phone obsessed tween!!

My kids only watch CBeebies at the moment (no adverts) so we never know what the “on trend” toys are. I’d love to know how accurate the predictions are! I bet they’ve got it down to a fine art now #TheListLinky

  2. Christina Palmer

A shower radio as it would be safer than running an extension lead under the bathroom door so I can listen to the radio in the bath

  3. sharon stanley

I don’t have a christmas list. Out of my three girls two of them have birthdays in December which leaves us pretty much broke come Christmas so I always request that people concentrate on them rather than me.

  4. Teresa sheldon

A new husband as this one is driving me crazy today with putting up the tree, other than that Smellies and choccie love them both as I do the husband really

  5. Susan B

A new face (mine’s worn out) a townhouse in France and a round-the-world cruise. But if Santa can’t manage that, I love coffee and bath gifts.
