Peter Rabbit First Birthday Cake Smash: What is a cake smash? – This is the exact phrase that Hubby used when I announced a couple of months ago that I had booked in Kippers first Birthday cake smash. To be honest until I booked Kippers New Born Photo shoot although I was aware of them I had not realised they had become such a big thing in the UK. Its not really a surprise as its a great excuse to document baby’s first Birthday in a fun and messy way.

One of the things I know some people are not keen in is the waste of cake. But truthfully very little gets wasted, we took the majority of Kippers home with us to eat and it went down really well. As Kipper had a Peter Rabbit themed party I wanted to keep the theme going for the cake smash. So dressed him in his bunny outfit. I spoke with Samphire Photography before hand and explained what our theme was… she said leave it with me. I was not expecting the lovey array of fresh fruit, veg and photo props when we walked into the studio. It really was a bit like walking into Mr McGreggors garden.
And then it really is as simple as it sounds, Kipper got to play with the cake and a wooden spoon…
One thing I would say is wear clothes you don’t mind getting cake all over and its also likely you will get very wet at bath time…
I am so please with the way the photos came out. Something for me to look back on in the years to come. Monkey keeps asking when its going to be his turn… I am now wondering if this might become a new birthday tradition.

Peter Rabbit First Birthday Cake Smash

  1. The bottom photo with the water splashing out is my favourite although they are all precious! Kipper fairly smashed the cake, well done & happy first birthday to him xx

  2. Just so super cute! I’m still deciding on a cake smash or not, I maybe should as she’s my last baby. Although she is a girl who will no doubt like the rest of her family do more eating than smashing!

  3. Jemma @popcornlunchuk

  6. I love the one in the bath tub! Photos are precious and these are adorable. #BloggersClubUK

  7. How cute a mum at school does these sort of photoshoots and they look great fun and the kids love them. Love the props too and the photos are adorable #bloggerclubuk

  8. Oh my goodness! What beautiful photos and how clever to theme it too. I so wish we had done something like this. Little Button hated getting messy when she was very little, but on second thoughts I could have got away with eating the cake. #BloggerClubUk
