I have decided to start sharing some of the things we have liked and loved each month, hopefully inspiring others along the way. May has gone so quickly that I am now two months behind on my Travel Bucket Lists. But I am planning on trying to catch up.
Liked & Loved – Travel
*A Trip to Italy with Eurocamp – Anyone that follows me on social media will know that we have been away to Italy for half term. Its probably my favourite holiday destination and we have been lucky enough to visit a number of different parts over the years. This time we returned to Venice and visited Burano for the first time. I will be writing about it properly in the next few days. A little part of my heart will always be in Italy and we hope to have a permanent bolt hole there one day.
Liked & Loved – The Boys
A ZOG Birthday Cake – Kipper had his birthday at the beginning of the month and his party the following weekend. He had the most beautiful ZOG cake made by a very talented baker. Caroline does all our cakes and we are never disappointed. However because it was so beautiful I really struggled with the idea of cutting it! In fact I didn’t, one of my friends volunteered to do it for me in the end.
*Bobux Shoes – We have been lucky to receive some wonderful shoes from Bobux. The boys each received a pair of Grass Court shoes. Kipper opted for a Sapphire pair with a velcro fastening and Monkey a Smoke pair with white elasticated laces. The laces are such a clever idea. I love the bright colours and the boys gravitate towards them when we leave the house. So I know they are as comfortable as they look, this could be because the heel is padded for extra comfort.
In addition to the Grass Court shoes we also chose a pair of their Tidal Sandals each which are part of Bobux’s Quickdry Collection. Again available in a myriad of bright colours. Making them perfect for the Summer. But the best thing about them is that the Tidal sandal is made from fast-drying leather, unlined at the front to optimise the quick-dry effect, and lined at the heel to keep growing feet comfortable. This means its touch dry within in 20 minutes, retains its shape and does not suffer with water stains.
Feet are protected by a closed-toe design, while cutouts in the premium leather act as vents to improve breathability. The Tidal sandal has all the features to keep feet cool and comfortable all summer long. While we were in Italy the boys tried them out for the first time. They quickly became their favourite for the warmer weather.
*Parma Violets – Monkey is a huge Parma Violets fan. To be honest he is the only one in the house as nobody else is a fan! Love them or hate them Swizzels is on the search for the biggest fan of the iconic sweet. The chosen biggest fan will be rewarded with a years supply of Parma Violets as well as an exclusive VIP tour of the Swizzels factory to see how the unique sweets are made. All you need to do is tell them why you are their biggest fan. The winner will be chosen in the Summer you can read more on their website.
They sent us a mug which has a love side and a hate side. To win it please enter via the Gleam application below – please note this is just for the mug as Monkey has already eaten the Parma Violets!
Competition is open to residents of the UK aged 18 and over. There is no cash alternative offered. The winner will be drawn at random and will receive a Parma Violets Love Hate mug as pictured but without the sweets themselves. The giveaway will close on the 23rd June at midnight, the winner will be notified through Twitter and will be asked to provide an email address and full postal address
Liked & Loved – Treats for Mum
Peonies – Are by far my favourite flower. We have several different types in the garden and its lovely seeing them in full bloom. Even if they don’t last for very long. I am planning a trip to Polesdon Lacey which is a National Trust property as they have a little spot in their gardens which are full of them.
A new sun hat – I originally saw this in insta stories and completely fell in love with it. I knew it would be perfect for our holidays this year. I brought it from Next if you would like one for yourself. I suspect it will be appearing on my feed a fair amount.

M O N D A Y • 0 3 / 0 4 Back to life with a bump today! That first day back after a week off is always a hard one and I think I will be burning the midnight oil tonight. I was in two minds to post this since it’s not insta perfect with the creases and crumples. But then it’s a moment I want to remember and that’s what this platform is meant to be about right? How was your Monday? #familytravelblog #travelbloggers
*Mary Poppins Umbrella – What better way to cheer yourself up when the weather is being miserable than by a fun umbrella. This Mary Poppins Umbrella from Paladone is just that. I have had loads of comments on it. The parrot head handle is surprisingly easy to hold and light weight. Its full size and also has the phrase Practically perfect in every way™ written across its top. Making it a wonderful gift for lovers of the Walt Disney picture. It retails at £24.99 and I have one to giveaway to my readers. To enter please use the Gleam application below and please note the T&Cs.
Competition is open to residents of the UK aged 18 and over. There is no cash alternative offered. The winner will be drawn at random and will receive a Mary Poppins Umbrella as pictured.. Liked & Loved – Books
*Be a Super Awesome Photographer – Monkey was sent this from Laurence King book to try out. He is always following me around asking to take pictures with my camera. The book by Henry Carroll teaches budding young shutterbugs all they will need to start snapping their own masterpieces. Using real photographs for inspiration, this fun and nifty guide book has 20 exciting photo challenges plus tips and tricks of the trade. Perfect for using with either a smartphone or with any other style camera. Monkey has enjoyed working through them.
I like how the book also includes practical information so that he starts to understand some of the theory behind taking photos such as different parts of the camera. The book costs £9.99 and I have two copies to giveaway to my readers. To enter please use the Gleam application and please note the T&Cs.
Competition is open to residents of the UK aged 18 and over. There is no cash alternative offered. The two winners will be drawn at random and each will receive a Be a Super Awesome Photographer book. The giveaway will close on the 7th July at midnight, the winners will be notified through Twitter and will be asked to provide an email address and full postal address.
Audio Books – I can not tell you the last time I picked up a book to read. It was probably before I started the blog back in 2015! However as part of a well being exercise at work I decided to order a set of audio fiction books for the car. I do a lot of driving for work so it seemed likely that I would at least listen to them. And I have a loved them. Its a crime series so similar to what I would have naturally picked to read. I am on the last CD of the 10 story box set and now thinking of subscribing to audible. It has reminded me how much I love stories.
Liked & Loved – Days Out
*Marwell Brickosaurs – Our favourite day out all month was to Marwell Zoo to see the Brickosaurs. We always have a great time when we visit seeing all the animals. The added interest of the dinosaurs and the fact that you could spend hours making your own creations at base camp really made the day special.
https://mudpiefridays.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack#/settingsTrip on the Steam Train – For Kippers actual birthday we went out for the day on the Spa Railway. Since he loves trains and they had a steam train running over the bank holiday weekend. It’s only a short journey running from Eridge to Tunbridge Wells. Which was perfect for a three year old. You can read more about it in our – Picture Postcard – A Trip on Spa Valley Railway
