Review ZENB Veggie Bites & ZENB Veggie Sticks

AD – This is a sponsored post I have been compensated for my time – Review ZENB Vegigie Bites & ZENB  Veggie Sticks

Review ZENB Veggie Bites & ZENB Veggie Sticks. At the moment I think we are all finding life a little bit harder than usual. The pandemic has brought different challenges to different people and, as a busy full-time working mum of two I am finding the juggling act of working, homeschooling, housework and all the other things that go with raising kids a challenge. Mealtimes here can be hectic especially during the day and although we manage diaries as much as possible not to have a Zoom call over the lunch period – sometimes you have to. Lunchtime is also the time when I sit down with Harry to do his school work.

Although the boys are well fed and watered throughout the day, I tend to neglect myself and end up reaching for the biscuit tin rather than having a proper meal. So when I found out about ZENB I was delighted to learn about their Veggie Bites and Veggie Sticks – convenient snacks which I can eat while running around after the boys and trying to navigate my parenthood juggling act.

Who is ZENB?

ZENB is a new, organic, plant-based brand that strives to give customers the opportunity to eat delicious on-the-go snacks, whilst also being respectful of the resources of our natural environment. The name ZENB is derived from the Japanese phrase “Zenbu” meaning “whole”. The company believes in including as much of the whole vegetable as possible, including those parts often discarded such as the peel, skin, stem and seeds to help raise awareness around issues of food waste. Through the power of plants, ZENB strives to build a food lifestyle for the future. As well as being plant-based their snacks are also vegan, organic, gluten-free, a source of fibre and free from artificial flavours or preservatives. ZENB offers two types of snacks, ZENB Veggie Sticks and ZENB Veggie Bites.

ZENB Veggie Sticks

Individually wrapped, the ZENB Veggie Sticks are made using the whole vegetable, as well as puffed brown rice, red quinoa and almonds to complement and enhance the simple flavour of the vegetables. These vegan bars come in four different flavours, Beetroot, Carrot, Pumpkin and Red Pepper.

ZENB Veggie Bites

ZENB Veggie Bites come in resealable pouches. They are veggie-first snacks complemented with an enticing blend of fruit, nuts and spices, to create a range of five unique flavour-pairings.

    • Carrot, Pineapple and Coriander
    • Pumpkin, Apple and Cacao Nib
    • Beetroot, Orange and Cacao Nib
    • Red Pepper, Tomato and Chilli
    • Sweet Potato, Mango and Cinnamon

So what do I think?

When ZENB sent me some gluten-free samples to try I was a little sceptical about these. Only because I have tried similar products before and not really enjoyed them.  However, I am pleased to say that is not the case with these. The puffed rice in the Veggie Sticks really helps to add texture to them which makes them interesting to eat and breaks up the intense flavour of the vegetables. If I had to choose I think the Red Pepper Stick is my favourite, I love the zingy peppery flavour. But they are all delicious. Plus I find that they are perfect to have mid-afternoon as a snack between lunch and dinner.

I was expecting the Veggie Bites to be similar to the Veggie Sticks just in different packaging but they are very different. Each pouch has six bites in it which may not sound like a lot but I have found that when we go for a walk in the woods for several hours I would only go through three or four as the little squares really do pack a punch and are quite dense in nature, I think it is because they also contain chopped nuts.

Again I love all the flavours but my favourites are the Carrot, Pineapple and Coriander. I think this is because they are a little sweeter in nature. Although saying that the Beetroot, Orange and Cacao Nib are a very close second.

Other uses…

They are also really versatile and lend themselves to be used to complement other meals. Such as being crumbled on top of soup, risotto or pasta dishes. They can also be added to your overnight oats or sprinkled on top of porridge. But the one I have used the most so far is adding the Veggie Bites to salads. As they act a bit like a vegetable crouton and the puffed rice works really well as it has a good bite to it.
