18 + Family Friendly Festivals in the UK 2023

The boys love visiting family-friendly festivals in the UK. Initially taking Charlie to his first family festival to celebrate his 4th birthday.  There is something about the music, activities, hopefully, sun and laughter. There are so many to choose from I have pulled together a list of kid festivals UK. Please do let me know if I have missed any of your favourite family festivals of 2023 and I will get them added below. Family Friendly Festivals in the UK 2023

We are just starting to enter festival season. I have long been a fan of music festivals. However, since having children our festival experience has changed. Looking for those with a kids area, face painting, circus skills, fairground rides and craft activities. The great news is that UK festivals also offer so much festival fun for adults as well. DJ sets, street food, and live performances including Fatboy Slim, George Ezra, Snow Patrol and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. 

Camp Bestival

• Where: Dorset and Shropshire. Dorset – Lulworth Castle, West Lulworth, Dorset, BH20 5QS. Shropshire – Weston Park, Weston-under-Lizard, Nr Shifnal, Shropshire
• When: Dorset – 27th-30th July 2023 Shropshire – 17th-20th August 2023
• Ticket Prices: Adult full weekend tickets start at £220 for Dorset and £180 for Shropshire. Camping tickets are available and children get concessions.

This festival takes place in Dorset and Shropshire on different weekends and is geared towards families with children. There is so much to see and do at Camp Bestival and it promises to deliver entertainment from start to finish. It features music, comedy, theatre performances, and a variety of family activities for children including bouncy castles. Do not forget your fancy dress – so much fun. You can also enjoy camping facilities, take your camper van or even pay for boutique camping or hospitality. Just So Festival

• Where: Rode Hall Estate, Scholar Green, Cheshire, ST7 3QT
• When: 18th-20th of August 2023
• Ticket Prices: Adult weekend tickets start at £187.25 which includes a booking fee. Camping tickets are available and children get concessions.

This festival is held in Cheshire and features a wide range of activities for children, including storytelling, music, theatre, and craft workshops. It really is a wonderfully immersive experience that the whole family can get involved with. You can book weekend tickets or even just for specific days. It takes place over three days. Camping is possible as well. This is a magical experience and while it might not be so well-known is definitely worth considering. More information can be found at – Just So Festival.

 

Latitude Festival

• Where: Henham Barns Nr, Southwold, Beccles NR34 8AQ
• When: 20th-23rd July 2023
• Ticket Prices: Adult weekend tickets start from £286.45 each and you can select the family camping option. You need to specify children so prices may increase.

This festival in Suffolk is suitable for families with older children and features music, theatre, comedy, and poetry. It has some of the best headline acts that are well-known today and it promises to deliver on entertainment. The tickets automatically include camping which is great as you don’t need to worry about where to stay and other factors. Plenty of food and drink options around the area as well. Geronimo Festival

• Where: Arley Hall and Gardens, Arley, Northwich, CW9 6NA
  When: 26th -29th May
  Ticket Prices: Day tickets start at £22.50. Weekend tickets are available as well as camping options. Concessions for available for children. Camping passes start at £105 up to their glamping package which costs £599.

One of the best family festivals UK and one that provides excellent value for money is Geronimo Festival in Northwich. Taking place on the Arley Hall grounds there is plenty of music and live entertainment to keep the children happy. You can get involved in different activities throughout the weekend and also enjoy the food stalls. You can bring a tent, motorhome or caravan. They also have Bell Tents for hire for the weekend. Beautiful Days Festival

• Where: Escot Park, Nr Fairmile, Devon
• When: 18th-20th August 2023
• Ticket Prices: Adult weekend camping tickets start at £175. Children’s tickets are available.

This festival in Devon is suitable for families with children of all ages and features music, comedy, theatre, and circus acts. There is also a healing village where you can enjoy something a little different from this festival that has so much to offer for families. Elderflower Fields Festival

• Where: Spithurst Hub, Spithurst Rd, Barcombe BN8 5EE
• When: 26th-29th May
• Ticket Prices: Adult weekend ticket starts at £159.83 which includes a booking fee. Child tickets are available.

This festival in Sussex is geared towards families with children and features music, theatre, crafts, and outdoor activities. It is an immersive experience with plenty on offer for all families. You can look to camp here as well or stay close by. The music is perfect for all ages and the activities on offer will keep kids occupied. A great option to consider this year. Well-I-Hole Family Festival

• Where: Well-I-Hold Road, Greenfield, Oldham OL3 7HY
• When: Saturday 24th June 2023
• Ticket Prices: The family ticket price is £42 which includes 2 adults and 2 children.

Based in the small village of Greenfield on the outskirts of Saddleworth this fun family festival takes place on farmland with lots of entertainment. There are campsites nearby if you wanted to make the most of it. It has plenty on offer for all ages including music and entertainment to keep everyone happy. Bluedot Festival

• Where: Bomish Lane, Macclesfield, SK11 9DW
• When: 20th-23rd July 2023
• Ticket Prices: Day tickets start at £42 per person. Weekend tickets are available.

Bluedot festival takes place at Jodrell Bank in Cheshire. With music and lots to see and do it is a great option to consider. This is usually a space attraction in Cheshire, and the theme continues throughout the festival with science and cosmic attractions and activities that the whole family can get involved in. Deer Shed Festival

• Where: Baldersby Park, Topcliffe YO7 3BZ
• When: 28th-31st July 2023
• Ticket Prices: Weekend tickets start at £150 but that is an early bird price. Child tickets are available.

A family-friendly festival that has been running for some time. Offers lots to see and do and plenty of live entertainment to keep you occupied. It is one that has lots of live music options as well as science-themed immersive activities and entertainment to get involved with. One of the best Kid’s festivals UK and perfect for the whole family. Based in Yorkshire there is plenty of options to consider to stay close by. More information can be found at – Deer Shed. 

Hay Festival

• Where: Hay-On-Wye in Wales
• When: 25th May – 4th June 2023
• Ticket Prices: Different events offer different prices many of the children’s sessions are £7 each.

A great family-friendly event that has a lot to offer including live entertainment with a focus on the arts. There are lots to see and do during the festival so it is worth spending a few days checking out the different activities. There is a full program that runs across the ten days. You can book individual sessions online and see a whole programme of what is on. You can do this on the Hay Festival website. 

 

In It Together

• Where: Port Talbot, SA13 2PA, Wales
• When: 26th-28th May 2023
• Ticket Prices: Tickets are available online. Camping and weekend tickets are available and start at £186, or £395 for a family of four. 

A lovely family-friendly festival with lots to see and do – Wales biggest festival. It is a great festival with lots of fun and activities along the way as well as some incredible headliners. The setting is fantastic and the atmosphere is electric. This is one of the best UK family festivals to consider. More information can be found at – In It Together. 

 

Stendhal

• Where: Ballmully Cottage Farm, Limavady BT49 0NQ, Northern Ireland.
• When: 6th-8th July 2023
• Ticket Prices: Tickets vary in price depending on the options chosen. A family of four camping ticket for Friday and Saturday is £182. There are also day tickets and camper van tickets available. More details are on their website of all the options. 

This is one of the best small family festivals that you can attend and is in fact, award-winning. Taking place in July you can enjoy it just for the day or experience everything by camping. Here you will find live comedy entertainment and international food. There is so much for families to do with dedicated family programme enjoy during the festival that you will have an amazing time. Standon Calling

• Where: Standon Lordship, Hertfordshire, SG11 1EF
• When: 20th-23rd July 2023
• Ticket Prices: An adult ticket for the weekend will cost around £215 plus a booking fee. Children’s tickets will have discounts. Camping is available.

Taking place towards the end of July each year, Standon Calling is a fabulous family-friendly festival. With live entertainment and appearances from the team at Horrible Histories and celebrities like Mr Motivator, the whole family will enjoy this special event. The BIG Festival

• Where: Alex James’ Farm near Kingham, Oxfordshire, OX7 6UJ
• When: 25th – 27th August 2023
• Ticket Prices: Adult day tickets start at £93.50 which includes a booking fee. There are camping and weekend tickets available with no family option. An adult camping costs £217.95 and a child under 12 costs £55.80.

Taking place at a farm in The Cotswolds owned by Alex James this festival focuses on family fun and entertainment combined with excellent food. Taking place in August, you get the chance to see some amazing chefs in action as well as enjoy all that is on offer. Plenty of live music and fun to be had, as well as camping and weekend tickets available, this is one not to be missed. Check out The BIG Festival website for more information.

 

Exmouth Festival

• Where: Exmouth EX8 1DG
• When: 28th – 31st July 2023
• Ticket Prices: Free festival making this a unique offering for family festivals in 2023. Check out the website for more details.

The perfect festival for families if you are local focusing on live entertainment, music and the arts. This is a great one as it is free to enter. Eden Festival

• Where: Raehills Meadows, Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland
• When: 8th-11th June 2023
• Ticket Prices: Adult ticket prices start at £151.50 which includes a booking fee. Whole host of  options including a bolt on Thursday ticket, glamping options and camper van options. Making this a very flexible family festivals of 2023.

This has a real hippy vibe and is a perfect family festival to attend if you are looking for something a little different. Plenty to see and do with live entertainment and music as well as immersive experiences to really make the whole thing enjoyable. You can buy day tickets or attend for the full weekend. Party at the Palace – West Lothian

• Where: Lochside Field, Bonnytoun Farm, Linlithgow, EH49 7LP
• When: 12th-13th August 2023
• Ticket Prices: Adult day tickets start at £59. Weekend tickets are available but there are no camping options 

Plenty of time to enjoy some great artists and live music as well as lots of activities to enjoy as a family. This is a lovely festival to attend and one that you might want to consider. Taking place in Scotland you can enjoy staying close by or camping. One to consider for the summer. More information can be found at Party at the Palace. 

Tartan Heart Festival

• Where: Belladrum, Cabrich, IV4 7BA
• When: 27th-29th July 2023
• Ticket Prices: Weekend adult ticket prices start at £182.60 which includes a booking fee, children from £11.00. They also offer an installment plan if you want to pay for your tickets monthly. 

Taking place at the end of July. Another family-friendly festival that promises lots of live music and plenty of things to do for the whole family to enjoy. This is a great family festival with plenty to see and do while you are there. You can also enjoy camping which makes things so much easier. The perfect Scottish adventure.
