The weather here can change quickly (it’s the UK!!!), and the casual but unexpected downpour can turn a walk in the countryside into a muddy adventure. Also, pack sand-resistant towels; those are a lifesaver when the sand gets everywhere.
Remember to pack hats and sunscreen; the sun on the coast is always strong, even if it’s cloudy. And, of course, pack some inexpensive beach toys, because some will almost certainly end up lost at sea.

There’s one thing many people don’t think about: the bumper. Last summer, on a similar trip, we clipped a low curb and left a small crack in the rear bumper. It seemed like a minor detail, but the constant vibrations caused the clips to loosen, and halfway through the trip, we had to make an emergency repair.
