Silver Spur Steakhouse Disneyland Paris

Silver Spur Steakhouse Disneyland Paris. When we visited Disneyland Paris for the day we decided to book a restaurant in advance. As our tickets were not confirmed until quite late a lot of the bookable restaurants were already fully booked. You really do need to give yourself a couple of months if possible as they do really get booked up in advance. We decided to book the Disneyland Paris steakhouse which offers a menu jazz to accompany the food.

It was the first time we had eaten there and it was the only bookable restaurant available. This should have given us an indication there and then that there was probably a reason why. However, I didn’t twig and happily booked the restaurant grateful that we had managed to get somewhere. In hindsight, we may have been better off just grabbing some food as we moved around the theme park. Instead of booking this American restaurant.

Inside the restaurant

The Silver Spur Steakhouse is located in Frontierland in Disneyland park. Very close to the boy’s favourite ride Thunder Mountain. It is a table service restaurant offering a set menu with a cowboy theme. Despite having a sign outside saying they are fully booked when we arrived there were plenty of tables that were free. And this table remained free during our time at the restaurant. It is a large Mid Western-themed restaurant with raised seating areas on both sides. The kitchen is at the back and there is dimmed lighting giving out the intended Gentlemen’s Club vibe.

The Menu Steakhouse

There is a limited set menu to choose from. You can find the full menu here – Silver Spur Steakhouse Disneyland Paris Menu. It is reasonably priced when you think about the location. The children’s menu (menu enfant premium) is three courses and costs 22€ and comes with a drink and is available to those aged 11 years of age and under. The menu replicates in part the adult menu which helps with you have a nine-year-old that always wants what the adults have. Charlie opted for the salad, burger and then ice cream sundae.

The adult menu has slightly more choices but is still reasonably limited. The difference is you can either opt for a starter and a main course at 34€. Or three courses to include a dessert for 42€. We only opted for a two-course meal. I had a prawn cocktail followed by the salmon. The husband opted for chicken wings and then a steak with peppercorn sauce. Drinks are also quite limited with wine being served by the bottle. A large beer (33cl) costs 5.50€ and set drinks from 5.10€.

Good points of eating at Silver Spur Steakhouse Disneyland Paris

It was useful to have a restaurant booked on the basis that we knew we could have a sit down with a guaranteed table. When we visited the theme park was sold out of day tickets so it was very busy.

Located in the theme park and not the Disney Village means that you are closer to the rides and this will minimise moving around a crowded park. Especially early evening when they tend to shut walkways to get ready for the illuminations.

The not-so-good points of eating at Silver Spur Steakhouse Disneyland Paris

It was a hot May day and they did not have the aircon on which was definitely needed. Especially when we were placed up in one of the corners of the raised area. Instead of one of the round tables in the gallery. Which would have got airflow from the door.

We have a fussy eater. I was hopeful that they would be able to adapt the menu a little to make allowances for him. However, when we asked if they would be able to change the starter slightly we were told no. The starter was laughing cow cheese on toast with turkey, tomato and crispy bacon on top. We asked if we could have the other toppings removed. I think that demonstrates just how pre-pared all the food you are served is. And to be honest you could really tell.

Service was distinctly average, there was quite a delay between finishing our main courses and the boys getting their dessert. Which is not really what you want when you are keen to get back out on the rides. It wouldn’t have been so bad if there had been someone to ask!

It was not the best meal. The vegetables were overcooked having lost a lot of their green colour. The salmon was overcooked but edible although a teaspoon of avocado was not really sufficient. And it had started to brown where it had been left on the side too long. I could understand if the restaurant was busy but it was no more than a third full during our whole meal.

Conclusions – Steakhouse Restaurant

I would not eat here again when we visit in the future. It is hard to compare the restaurant with other Disneyland Paris restaurants as this was the only place we ate in on this visit. Since the pandemic, I think all hospitality is struggling a little. Although saying that we did get take-out hot dogs from the corner of Main Street and they were much nicer and cheaper than our evening meal.

When we stayed for a short break we ate in a couple of the other Disneyland Paris restaurants. The rainforest café in the Disney Village was nice although you can not book this in advance and it depends if you want to wait for a restaurant or a ride. We also ate in the buffet restaurant Plaza Garden for breakfast with a character dining experience which was very good. And we found both the Disneyland Hotel and our Disney hotel restaurant in our hotel Newport Bay also had good food.
