Several years ago now, we headed to the Peacock Theatre in London to see The Snowman. We always like to take a trip into the city over Christmas to marvel at the Christmas lights. And generally, soak up the festive atmosphere. This year we will be going back. Since the magical stage adaptation of the much-loved picture book by Raymond Briggs arrives at the West End again for its 26th year. Based on the film directed by Dianne Jackson and produced by the late John Coates. The show contains magical lighting and amazing choreography with a live orchestra. We had such a wonderful time on our first visit to The Snowman live stage show. It really got us in the festive mood and is still one of the best shows we have been to. I can not wait to go back.

There are several ways to get to the Peacock Theatre in London. Depending on your starting location and mode of transportation. Here are a few options:

By Tube: The nearest underground station to the Peacock Theatre is Holborn, which is served by the Central and Piccadilly lines. From there, it’s just a short walk to the theatre. Which should take around 6 minutes although with little legs probably a bit longer!
By Bus: There are several bus routes that stop near the Peacock Theatre, including routes 1, 8, 19, 25, 38, 55, 59, 68, 91, 168, and 188. Check the Transport for London website for specific route information.

The Snowman Peacock Theatre – What to expect at The Snowman live stage show

This heartwarming tale tells the timeless tale of a boy who builds a snowman. That magically comes to life on Christmas morning. Taking him on a magical adventure to the North Pole. The much-loved book was a mainstay when I was growing up a whole generation of children falling in love with the story. We always watched the animated television special each Christmas Eve. Now having the chance to share this with the boys through the Snowman London musical is very special.

A beautiful and enchanting dance show that is perfect for the whole family and children of all ages. The show features stunning sets and costumes. As well as a talented cast of actors and dancers who bring the story to life on stage. The scene changes are fantastic. One of the highlights of the show is the iconic song “Walking in the Air”, which is performed live by a soloist as the Snowman and the little boy fly through the air on their magical journey. The song is a beautiful and haunting melody that perfectly captures the sense of wonder and magic that is at the heart of the story. And by far my favourite part of this Winter family favourite.

There is also the introduction of an ice princess whom they have to rescue from the clutches of the evil Jack Frost. It is all performed with a young audience in mind and you can not help buy like him by the end of the show.

Another highlight of the show is the incredible choreography, which features a captivating mix of dance styles and movements that help to bring the story to life. From the playful dance of the snowmen at their party. To the graceful movements of the Snowman and the young boy as they fly through the night sky. It manages to capture the sense of wonder and magic that has made the story so beloved by young children for generations. I would challenge anyone to not relive this classic through their own childlike world of imagination and leave this Winter wonderland feeling uplifted.

What age is The Snowman theatre show best suited?

The Snowman theatre show is best suited for children aged three and above. As well as adults who enjoy the classic story. The show is family-friendly and accessible for children of all ages. When we visited the boys were aged seven and three. Harry was really engaged in the show watching with great intent. It was his first theatre trip and it turned out to be the perfect show to introduce him to the world of theatre and live performance. There is also the opportunity to book a relaxed performance on the 29th of November.

How long is The Snowman theatre show

The Snowman theatre show is approximately an hour and fifty minutes long, including a twenty-minute interval. I like that the first half of the show is longer than the second half. Harry coped well, especially after some ice cream at the interval and the chance to stretch his legs. The spectacular design set and the live music really helps to keep their focus.

We had such a wonderful time. It was the perfect Christmas stage show and really got us in a festive mood. I can not wait to go back again this year with the boys being that bit older. This year The Snowman is on at Sadler’s Wells West End Peacock Theatre. Is in London from the 18th of November to the 30th of December. There are morning shows at 11 am, a matinee at 2.30 pm and evening shows at 7 pm depending on the day you visit.

What is the Peacock Theatre near?
