The Best Stunt Scooter for Kids

Micro MX TRIXX Stunt Scooter

AD – The boys were gifted Micro MX TRIXX Stunt Scooter for the purpose of this review blog post. Best Stunt Scooter for Kids

Best Stunt Scooter for Kids. Both boys love to scoot and have recently wanted to move onto a stunt scooter. So I have set about trying to find the best stunt scooter for a 9-year-old and the best stunt scooter for a 5-year-old.  One of the questions I was asking myself is what age is the best age to move onto a stunt scooter? Having a four year age gap between the boys does make it tricky for us.

Although I think Charlie at 9 is more than ready. I am not sure that Harry at 5 is the right age. But with a bigger brother to encourage him. We were keen to find the best stunt scooter for a beginner. With this in mind when we were approached by Micro Scooter to see if we would like to review their Micro MX TRIXX Stunt Scooter. We of course said yes.

What age are stunt scooters for?

As mentioned the boys are 9 and 5. The Micro MX TRIXX Stunt Scooter is aimed at children between the ages of 5 and 12.  This is quite a wide age range but the most important thing is based on your child’s height. Micro Scooter recommends that the minimum height of your child is 125cm.  So why is it a great beginner stunt scooter?

  • The scooter is engineered from lightweight aluminium which means that it is easy for children to handle
  • The shorter footplate and the handlebars have been specifically designed with younger children in mind.
  • Handlebars also have soft grips for comfort which is essential when looking for stunt scooters for young children
  • Lastly, it also comes with one set of stunt pegs which mean your child can get started straight away at practising some stunts.

The best stunt scooter for a beginner

Both boys are very much at beginner level so I was interested to see how they would get on.  Before we headed to our local skate park. I encouraged the boys to be able to test them at home. Going up and down the pavement and also in the garden. A stunt scooter is just as good for the school run and trips out as a normal two-wheel scooter. What makes it different is the ability to be used on ramps and jumps.

Unlike some of the other scooter designs from Micro Scooter, the Micro MX TRIXX Stunt Scooter does not fold.  When it arrived it comes in two pieces the base plate and the handlebars. Included are bolts that you place through the bottom of the scooter to hold the handlebars in place. This is the only assembly that needs to be done. Other than add the pegs to the wheels. We did find this a bit tricky as the nuts holding the wheels were very tight. So far we have only added these to Charlie’s scooter. In time we will add them to Harry’s.

Trying out a stunt scooter for the first time

Charlie had fun trying to experiment with the pegs flipping them around and trying out mini jumps. Harry has been adjusting from going from a three-wheel scooter to a two-wheel scooter. It is a lot faster for him but to say he loves it is an understatement.  Feeling now much more like his older brother although still cautious of big hills and away off jumps and ramps. Ultimately I think he is a bit young for the scooter but will grow into it. He is not as well balanced as his older brother and he is only 112cm. However, until we add the pegs onto it, to all intense and purposes it is a very well built two-wheeled scooter. Something he has been asking for, for a while.

By going straight for the stunt scooter it will enable him to get used to the way it handles before doing any clever stuff. It is heavier than traditional aluminium and does handle differently as the handlebars are designed to swing around.Micro MX TRIXX Stunt Scooter

Best Stunt Scooter 2020 UK – our conclusions

The boys need a lot more time to practice on their new scooters. However with a long staycation Summer in front of us, they will have plenty of time to get to grips with them.  The quality is exactly what I would expect from the brand and they are well priced compared to some others on the market.  Ultra robust with fixed handlebars I know it will stand up to all sorts of rough play from the boys. You can purchase a Micro MX TRIXX Stunt Scooter direct from the Micro Scooter website for £124.95. They also have several other stunt scooters to choose from depending on the ability and age of your child.

Do your kids have a stunt scooter? Let me know about your experiences in the comments.

We have a few scooters here but nothing like this. There is actually a skate park near home that a few of my kid’s friends go to, so I presume a lot of them would use similar scooters

This is so cool! I had no idea that there were different kinds of stunt scooters. I thought they were all basically the same but with a different name.

This would be a nice gift for my grandson. He is 5 years old and is a very active little boy. I like the features of the scooter too. I know it will be quite sometime before he tries any stunts, but I am still positive he will enjoy riding this. Thank you for the review.

We have a scooter/skateboard park close to our house. We could use a new scooter to get some tricks in on! I like the larger age range on this one.
