Hubby and I like to buy personalised presents from the children to each other for Birthdays and for occasions such as Christmas, Mothers Day, Fathers Day. Presents that do not cost the earth but will go on to be keepsakes be it a piece of jewellery, something hand made or a personalised book. When I was offered the chance to review a personalised Peppa Pig book from Penwizard I was not convinced that it would be the sort of personalised gift he would like. I knew Monkey would love it but it wasn’t meant to be a gift for him. So I was a little unprepared for his reaction…. as it turned out that he loved it on sight and even by his own omissions he was surprised. The reason is because this is definitely not your traditional personalised book.
I ordered Daddy’s Words of Wisdom via my mobile phone and the website worked perfectly. I was surprised by just how ‘personalised’ I could make it. Unlike other books you are not needing to add photos so its really quick and simple. You can personalise Daddy and up to three children, the way you go about it is to change their appearance. Yet they still look as though they fit straight into the Peppa Pig story line. Its really very clever.
You actually personalise the first child first and have the option to add extra personalisation to the front cover, we opted to add World’s Best Daddy. You can also add a personalised message which appears on the front cover. Then you can go on to select – hair style and colour, skin colour, eye colour and if your little one wears glasses. On the next screen you get a chance to preview the character and so play around with options to get it as close as possible.
Then you get the chance to personalise Daddy, again choosing hair style and colour, skin colour, eye colour and if he wears glasses, adding in a beard, moustache and sideburns. Before going on to personalise any other children in the same way.
Once you are happy with the personalisation you go through to a confirmation screen which will give you an indication of when the book is to be delivered. I was very impressed with how quickly it turned up. We opted for the hard back A4 option which costs £19.99, they also have a soft back which is £14.99.
Things I love:
- I really like personalised nature of this because it is so different to others I have come across
- This is one of a series of books available they have others for different family members including mum, grandpa and grandma.
- The quality is great, paper thick and illustrations printed beautifully
- Monkey is learning to read the the text the perfect
- My husbands reaction to when he was given the book was amazing
- Great online experience and quick delivery
