Wrapping up warm at bedtime with aden + anais: We have been long been fans of aden + anais using and loving a large number of their baby items over the years. Sleeping bags are one of these items and as far as bedtime is concerned a complete essential in the Mudpie Fridays house. So I was very when they asked if we would like to try one of their snuggly 2.5 tog sleeping bags. Our house is over 100 years old so can get a bit nippy this time of year so its perfect.
If you have not heard of sleeping bags before, essentially they are designed to be used instead of blankets and sheets, they are in effect a wearable blanket. This avoids the more traditional blankets and sheets getting kicked off or worse kicked over their head and tangled up. It also makes sure that baby stays the same temperature through out the night as they can move freely without the need to be tucked back in. They became a firm part of our night time routine with Monkey and helped him to understand when it was bedtime. I created the same routine with Kipper.
The aden + anais sleeping bags come in three different tog ratings and four sizes. 0.6 tog for 24-27 centigrade, 1.7 tog for 21-23 centigrade and 2.5 tog for 16-20 centigrade. Sizes range form 0-6 months through to 18 months plus. Kipper is 19 months and in the 18 month plus size. He’s a big boy but there is still tons of room in the bag for him to grow. Monkey was in bags until he was 2.5 years old. I can see this one lasting not only this season but next Autumn/Winter too.
There are three different prints in the 2.5 tog, we opted for ‘Jungle Jam’ with super cute giraffes. There is also ‘Lovely’ which has a pink and grey star pattern and ‘Vintage Circus’ with grey piping and blue and red stars. Each bag is made from four layers breathable muslin with a hypoallergenic polyester fill. There snaps on both shoulders and under the arms to hold Kipper secure. Ideal if the bag is coming up a little big. There is also a zip that runs all down one side. Which allows or easy access for nappy changes in the middle of night!
Things I love about aden + anais sleeping bags
- Its so super soft and bouncy. I am a real believer in natural fabrics close to baby skin so the fact they are muslin is a huge tick in my book. Monkey use to have terrible eczema so I wouldn’t even consider anything different.
- I am over the moon that we now have one warm enough and big enough for Kipper. Until now he has been living in Monkey’s hand me downs (yes they have done two full season uses and could easily go onto a third). I have aden + anais bags in all togs and sizes and would also highly recommend their 0.6 tog for hot Summers and trips abroad.
- They wash well, we all know how much washing babies and toddlers generate! All my previous sleeping bags have always washed really well. They are machine washable and can be tumbled on a low heat.
- The wide range of togs, designs, patterns and colours, including a good number of what I class as gender neutral designs. This is great if you are planning on having more than one child.
- Both my boys seem to have genuinely slept better in them, and I do not have to worry about them getting blankets stuck on their faces.
