50+ Easter Activities, Events and Egg Hunts in Kent 2024

There is something special about the Easter school holidays. I think it is generally because dare I say it the weather is so much better. After the dark Winter days with the Spring flowers appearing. It makes us all want to go outside and have some Easter family fun. So I have pulled together a list of some of the best Easter activities in Kent this holiday. As well as the boy’s favourite Easter egg hunts in Kent – I think it must be chocolate. And not to forget the very special Easter events in Kent. No matter what you are looking to do this Easter then I am sure there will be something for you below in this Easter schedule. This year the Easter holidays are running from the 29th March to the 14th of April 2024. With Good Friday on the 29th March.

If you live in Kent and you are looking for things to do over the Easter holidays then we have you covered. When reading through if there are some Easter activities in Kent that I have not included that you think should be then please mention them in the comments below and I will get them added. I am always on the lookout for great ideas.

Where possible I have included prices and details correct as of March 2023. However, some places may not have released all the information about their Easter events in Kent. So make sure you check the individual website before attending. Please note that the magical Hop Farm Family Park is closed for maintenance during 2024 and will not be holding any Easter events this year. Groombridge Place which was due to open will not be opening for Easter in 2024 this year either. Please bear this in mind when you are planning your Easter activities in Kent this year.

Easter Activities in Kent

There is so much choice of things to do in Kent over the Easter holidays. With many places putting on specific Easter activities.

Wilder Holiday Club

What – Run by the Kent Wildlife Trust. This holiday club is a must for all those that love being outdoors. Offering days crammed full of activities designed to inspire and develop your child’s love of nature: from pond dipping to mini-beast hunts, from nature-inspired crafts to campfires and den building. There will be more than enough to keep your children busy for the day and no two sessions are ever the same! Suitable for children between 5 and 11. Read more.

How much – £40 per child for the whole day.

Dreamland

What – Experience the classic thrills of the iconic Scenic Railway and Big Wheel, the Rock ‘n’ Roller family coaster, Mirror Maze, Miniature Railway and there’s mini golf too! Grab something to eat from fabulous food traders and enjoy free screenings and free activities throughout the season. Open at weekends and holidays. Read more.

How much – Free to enter and rides are operated on a pay-per-ride basis.

The Beaney

What – Canterbury’s Museum, Art Gallery, Library and Visitor Information Centre situated in the heart of the historic city centre. Is hosting Mischief in the Museum 50 years of Bagpuss trail. An interactive family trail celebrating a big birthday for our famous, saggy old cloth cat. Read more.
When – Running from the 10th February 2024 to Sun 14th April 2024l (closed Mondays)

How much – The trail costs £5 per participant/prize.

Dover Castle Easter Escapades

What – Get building with the brick artists and help to make a LEGO® brick sculpture at Dover Castle. Following in the footsteps of Henry II, they are building Dover’s mighty Great Tower with brick art. Once you’ve built your section, our brick builders will put all your creations together into one amazing recreation of the heart of the Dover Castle.
The Easter Quest is also running for just £2, which you can pay when you arrive at the site. This is in addition to the normal ticket price. Read more.
When – Easter Quest is running throughout the Easter holidays, The big brick build is running from the 6th to 14th of April. 10 am to 4 pm.

How much – Entrance is free for English Heritage members. Admission prices are, for adults £23.60, children £14.50 or a family ticket of 2 adults and up to 3 children costs £61.70. Under 5s are free.

Reuthes – Easter Holiday Club

What – Combining our popular survival camp, alpaca club, arts and crafts and winding down with children’s yoga into an action-packed day of entertainment. Suitable for children aged 5+. Drinks are provided but children need to bring a packed lunch. Or purchase lunch for an additional £5. Read more.
When – Details for 2024 have not been released yet.

Kent Heritage Farm Park

What – There is so much going on this Easter, meaning a great chance for a family day out. Including lamb bottle-feeding demonstrations throughout the day. You can also hop on a fun farm ride, or get creative in the Paint-a-Pot studio (at an extra cost), enjoy indoor and outdoor play areas, Mr Moo’s Messy Play, and meet the farmyard friends. With lots of animals on this animal farm. Teddy Parlour returns for Easter 2024 – a chance to make a cuddly friend takeaway (at an extra cost). Shows are also running in the Big Top, plus other animal feeding sessions and owl flying demonstrations. Read more.
When – Runs from the 29th March to the 14th of April. There is also an Easter bunny scavenger hunt running over Easter weekend included in the ticket price.

How much – Tickets must be booked in advance. Under 2s are free, adults and children £11.36 each, and a family of four is £45. This is for non-member prices. Members also need to book.

Tyland Barn Nature Park & Gardens

What – Led by Kent Wildlife Trust’s Education and Forest School team, you’ll explore the nature park and garden looking for natural finds and then get creative with their patterns and textures to make an Easter egg decoration to take home with you. Can you match the birds to their eggs as you follow the trail? Once you’ve found them all, enjoy a chocolate treat around the campfire. Read more.
When – You need to book your session online in advance. Friday 5th April 2024 – session times 10am, 10.45am, 11.30am, 2pm and 2.45pm
Where – Chatham Road Sandling, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 3BD
How much – £10 for an adult and a child. Serve yourself tea and coffee available for the adults. Tickets can be brought online via their website and Eventbrite.

Rare Breeds Farm

What – There is a lot going on at the farm this Easter with lots of lambs and baby goats to meet, pig racing and an Easter-themed word trail to test your sleuthing skills around the farm for a sweet treat. There are also additional storytelling, arts and crafts, bunnyyoga and carrotoke on selected days. More information is on their website. As well as the usual daily Falconry display and trailer rides run throughout the day during school holidays and weekends. Kids can let off steam in the play areas and there’s a woodland assault course where all the family can test their agility, plus a tube maze, zip wire and hill fort. If you’re feeling energetic take the woodland walk up to the secret lake. Read more.
When – Easter fun runs from the 29th March to the 14th of April although please see the website for specific activities. You can meet the Easter Bunny from the 29th March to the 1st of April The farm is open from 10 am to 4.30 pm.

Penhurst Place Easter Stories

What – In this special Easter trail, learn more about how Henry the Hedgehog prepared for the winter, and his plans for Spring, alongside many other wildlife and plants that will be springing into life during this time of rejuvenation in their special Garden trail. Read more.
When – 29th March to the 14th April 10 am to 5 pm, crafts are on from 11 am to 3.30 pm

How much – The trail is included in all ticket types. You can either buy tickets for the house and gardens or the gardens only. Adults cost £15 for the house and gardens or £13 for the gardens only, children £8.50/£8, under 5s are free. A family of four costs £42/£39 based on 2 adults and 2 children. Reduced family pricing for other combinations. Free RHS membership entry is not valid during the school holidays.

Hornby Visitor Centre

What -They are running a make and paint session where you can build a Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vc. (worth £11.99). Read more.
When – Details of Easter events have not been released yet for 2024. The workshop is running on Thursday 6th April 2023 and Wednesday 12th April 2023 between 10.30 am and 2.30 pm. Booking is not required. The museum is open from 10 am to 3.30 pm Monday to Sunday.
Where – Hornby Visitor Centre, Westwood Industrial Estate, Margate, Kent, CT9 4JX.
How much – The make and paint session costs £5. Entrance to the museum is £5 for adults, £2.50 for children with a family ticket costing £12.50. Kids go free into the museum – Sunday 16th April 2023.

Riverhill Himalayan Gardens

What – Taking place in the garden room. Get creative with a drop-in craft activity, making adorable sock bunnies. Lots of fun for all the family No need to book and the activity is included in the entrance price. Read more.

Canoe Wild – Easter Rise & Shine

What – A quiet scenic paddle…see the beautiful wildlife and scenery around you on the river at Sunrise, maybe even see a beaver too. This is a unique way to see the sun come up. This is a Fordwich to Grove Ferry paddle in Canoes and is lead by a qualified instructor and includes a lift service. Suitable for those age 14+ Read more.

Easter Egg Hunts in Kent

The boys absolutely love an Easter Egg Hunt in Kent it is probably because there is normally something tasty at the end of it, namely a chocolate egg. Thankfully there are lots of opportunities to indulge in some cracking Easter egg trails in Kent with these eggstravaganza egg hunt. Especially as there is a large number of National Trust Easter Egg trails in Kent to choose from. I like the fact that the National Trust Easter Egg Hunts follow the same format. Betteshanger Park

What – If you are looking for a more traditional egg hunt, then try out this well-known Easter Egg trail with a special guest (Peter Rabbit), taking place in the country park. Aimed at children between the ages of 2 and 10. The trail runs through the woods and so may not be suitable for buggies if it is very wet. You can book your tickets in advance via the website. Read more.
When – Runs across the Easter holidays from the 23rd & 24th March, 29th March to 7th April. Half an hour time slots from 10 am with the last one at 4 pm. Please note there are no slots at 1 pm and 1.30 pm.

How much – £10 for a child and £4 for an adult. This does not include parking.

Sissinghurst National Trust

What – Along the trail route, challenge yourself to complete our scavenger hunts, win at our lawn games and have a more hands-on approach to learning in their nature-inspired activities. Enjoy the stunning gardens and beautiful grounds. The trail costs £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and chocolate egg. Read more.
When – The trail is running from the 1st of April to the 16th of April 11 am to 4.30 pm
Where – Biddenden Road, near Cranbrook, Kent, TN17 2AB
How much – Entrance is free for National Trust members, prices without gift aid are £11 for an adult, £5.50 for a child and £27.50 for a family or £16.50 with one adult. Parking is free for National Trust members otherwise it is £4.

Brogdale Easter Egg Hunt

What – During Easter Weekend, families can take part in a trail throughout the orchards where they can explore their surroundings and hunt down our giant Easter eggs hidden among the fruit trees. Follow the trail map to find all the Easter Eggs to solve the hidden word quiz and collect your chocolate prize. Includes baby animals in the barn, and a special guest – The Easter Bunny. There is also a cafe and farm shop onsite. Read more.
When – 7th – 9th of April open 10 am to 3 pm. The Easter egg trail is running at 10 am and 1 pm and you need to book in advance via the website.
Where – Brogdale Collections, Brogdale Farm, Faversham, Kent, ME13 8XZ
How much – A family ticket of 2 adults and 2 children costs £23, adult £8.50, children £5 with under 3s free.

Hever Castle

What – So much more than just an Easter Egg Hunt in Kent. Last year there was a trail of colourful carrots! This year’s event – help the Easter Bunny find their sweet treats and spell a special word as part of an Easter egg hunt around the grounds not forgetting the yew maze. Once you’ve worked out the word, head to the Information Hut to receive a chocolate treat. There is also a free craft workshop where little ones take part in an egg decorating workshop. Inside the Castle, you can listen to an interactive audio guide which is now included in the Castle & Gardens admission price. On Easter weekend (7 – 10 April) they are also putting on extra fun. Have a go at the egg and spoon race and egg rolling on Half Moon Lawn and get your face painted for an additional charge don’t forget to check out the gift shop. A family ticket for two adults and two children is £47. The prices for garden and castle tickets are £20.80 for an adult, £11.80 for a child and £55 for a family.

Emmetts Garden National Trust

What – Part of the Easter Adventures Trail running across the National Trust. The Emmetts Garden’s Trail will feature some classic games and activities found at a Village Fête. Race your family in a sack race, launch wellington boots across the meadow, and hook a pair of matching ducks to claim your egg. The trail costs £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and chocolate egg. Read more.

Knole National Trust

What – Discover the world of Rabbit and his woodland friends on an Easter trail in the parkland at Knole. Collect your trail and bunny ears, then head off into the park and find owls, butterflies, insects and deer. Hop around the snail stepping stones and find a giant nest filled with eggs! Unlike others, it is recommended to book this one in advance. The trail costs £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and chocolate egg. Read more.
When – Open throughout the Easter holidays 1st to 16th April 10 am to 5 pm, with the last entrance at 4 pm.

Scotney Castle National Trust

What – This Easter come and find all the weird and wonderful egg-laying creatures in the garden at Scotney. How many can you spot as you work your way around the ten points in the garden? Have a go with our fun fishing game, then test your skill and luck with ‘Hoppyscotch’, ‘Snakes and Adders’ and ‘Newts and Crosses’. Stop to snap a family selfie in our giant nest and don’t forget to claim your chocolate egg at the end! The trail costs £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and chocolate egg. Face painting is on selected days for a cost of £2 and a Photography workshop. Read more.

Chiddingstone Castle – Easter Trail

What – Visit the Castle and Collections this Easter and look out for hidden chicks. Find them all to claim your chocolate treat. As well as the Easter trail kids can also view the collections and see some amazing things. Have you ever seen a mummified cat? Looked a Samurai Warrior in the eye? Wondered what an articulated animal is? Or dressed up as Tutankhamun? All of which are possible at Chiddingstone Castle. The tearoom is also available. Read more.

Ightham Mote National Trust

What – Make your way along the trail and find activities for the whole family. The trail costs £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and chocolate egg. Keep your eyes peeled for a dazzling display of Spring blooms. Read more.

Dover Castle English Heritage

What – Jumping on the Easter Egg hunt idea. The English Heritage is running an Easter adventure quest. Explore the gardens to hunt for clues and challenges and discover traditional Easter games like egg rolling and the egg and spoon race. Track down the Easter eggs and you’ll be rewarded with an adventurer’s certificate and a tasty chocolate treat from our partner, Love Cocoa.
The quest costs just £2, which you can pay when you arrive at the site. This is in addition to the normal ticket price. Read more.

Chartwell National Trust

What – Follow our trail around the beautiful gardens of Chartwell and learn a bit more about the life of Churchill. Expect some hearty debates, painting activities, and a fun land swimming race. The trail costs £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and chocolate egg. Read more.
When – The trail is 10 am – 5 pm with the last entrance at 4.30 pm daily from the 1st of April to the 16th of April

How much – Entrance is free for National Trust members, prices without gift aid for the house, gardens and studio are £20 for an adult, £10 for a child and £50 for a family or £30 with one adult. Or for the gardens and studio only £14/£7/£35/£21.

South Foreland Lighthouse National Trust

What – A sailing ship has run aground on the nearby Goodwin Sands and has lost its cargo of Easter eggs. Can you help the Lighthouse Keeper find and rescue the eggs? Search for clues and complete the fun activities with your family or friends – watch out for the pesky pirates though! You may even catch a glimpse of France on a sunny day. The trail costs £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and chocolate egg. Read more.
When – The trail runs from the 31t March to the 16th of April 2023 from 11 am to 4.30 pm. Please note the shop shuts at 5 pm.
Where – Please note that South Foreland Lighthouse is approximately 50 minute walk from the main car park at Langdon. Additional parking at Wanstone will be open, which is approximately 20 minute walk to the lighthouse. St Margaret’s Bay, Dover, Kent
How much – Entrance is free for National Trust members, £6 for an adult, £3 for a child and £15 for a family.

Lullingstone Castle & The World Gardens

What – Lullingstone Castle and The World Garden kick off the start of its season with family fun with our Easter Trail & Quiz. Aspiring plant hunters will be able to scour The World Garden and Grounds for Easter clues and then report on their discoveries to claim an eggtastic surprise, plus the chance to meet some Easter characters! Walmer Castle English Heritage

Reuthes – Sevenoaks Lost Garden

What – Collect your trail sheet from the onsite café and make your way around the gardens to find the hidden eggs. When you’ve completed your trail sheet return to the on-site café to claim your prize! This year they have introduced two different trails aimed at different ages and abilities. Chicks – This route is designed for little legs that like to waddle around our gardens. This is gentler route and our eggs are easier to find. Bunnies – For bigger kids who like to hop around our Gardens. This route is slightly longer, involves steeper hills and harder to find eggs. If you opt to meet the Easter bunny then you need to take your trail sheet to its hideout to receive a chocolate egg. Normally a sell-out. Read more.
When – The Easter trail runs from the 25th March to 7th of April. You can also book to meet the Easter bunny on the 29th of March or 1st of April. This is an additional cost.

How much – Everyone requires a ticket, adults and 0-2 years entrance prices do not come with a trail map or prize. Adults & toddlers £3, child £7 and under 1 year free for the Easter trail only. If you book to meet the Easter bunny then the trail is included, adults and toddlers aged 1-3 are £3, under 1’s are free, everyone else £12. Tickets need to be booked in advance online and you choose a time slot to meet the Easter bunny.

Romney Marsh Visitors Centre – Egg Trail

Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve and Jeffery Harrison Visitor Centre – Egg Trail

What – Explore the reserve, find the clues and solve the puzzle to win an amazing chocolatey prize! They are also running pond dipping sessions on the 8th of April and the 10th of April between 10 am and 12 pm. Read more.
When – Taking place everyday from the 3rd to the 10th April between 10am and 4pm

How much – £4 per child taking part. Parking costs £2.50 on a weekday and £3.50 at the weekends. Pond dipping sessions cost an extra £7 per child or £18 for a family ticket for up to three children. Tickets for the pond dipping can be booked in advance via the website using Eventbrite.

Mount Vineyard Easter Egg Hunt

What – The Easter Bunny will be bouncing back to The Mount Vineyard this April as their trail returns for the school holidays! Enjoy exploring the estate whilst solving the clues to win a tasty treat on completion. There will also be a 25% discount on pizzas in their Courtyard restaurant for all trail participants on Wednesday 5th & 12th and Thursday 6th & 13th of April. Read more.

Leeds Castle – Family Quest

What – Join Lady Baillie’s dogs, Danny and Boots, her beloved Great Danes, on an egg-citing Easter Quest through the great outdoors as they hunt for their favourite treats! There are spring-filled Easter displays where the little ones must CRACK the clues to find their favourite treat, counting the hidden golden eggs along the way. With a delicious treat at the end. What – Not normally what you would associate with Easter. Although I have two boys who will love this. With bookable bug shows, take-home crafting and bug hunt slots. The displays are educational, fun and packed full of weird, wonderful and cute animals, that children wouldn’t usually get a chance to meet including snails, scorpions, beetle larvae, tarantulas and lots more. Broadstairs Easter Food Festival

What – A three-day event promises to bring together some of the finest food and drink producers of Kent and the neighbouring counties. With Over 100 traders offering hot and cold food options, regional produce and local craft. There will be hands-on cookery sessions for children, and families, plus an eclectic line-up of live music on the bandstand. Something for everyone! Chatham Dockyard – Hatching at the Dockyard

What – Take a deep breath and delve into the darkest depths of the oceans this Easter, where mythical sea creatures have laid dozens of mysterious eggs. From the sea serpent to the ziphius your task is to find their nests and learn of their legends before claiming your collectable creature card. Only the bravest explorers will enter the Kraken’s Lair. Read more. The dockyard also has a number of other exhibitions during the Easter holidays in Kent. This includes monsters of the deep and woolly watery world.

Wildwood Wonderland

What – An interactive trail will tell the story of Alice in Wonderland, with its infamous characters on hand to guide and goodie bags for those who make it to the end. There’ll be a croquet for those brave enough to take on the Red Queen and a chance to dine at the Mad Hatter’s table before making some sweet treats to take home. Craft workshops will also be running for ‘painting the roses red’ and there’ll be a dedicated themed photo area for visitors to capture the magic. Those looking to take a leaf out of Alice’s book can also learn more about the residents of Wildwood – home to over 200 native animals – with talks from expert keepers about the ‘Cheshire’ wildcats and ‘tea pot’ dormice. Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway

What –Join us over the Easter Holidays for fun days with the trains and on the farm! Bouncing Bunnies at Quex Adventure Farm Park

Full of sweet treats, characters to meet and outdoor Easter fun The Bouncing Bunnies Easter trail is the Easter Event not to miss. Prices include an Easter Egg, Easter treat, bunny ears and access to the Quex adventure farm park. You book a time slot for your trail but can arrive before to make the most of the park. Read more.

Kent & East Sussex Railway

What – Onboard the train there will be Easter-themed activity sheets for the kids to enjoy. That can be exchanged in the shop once finished for a small delicious gift! To add to the fun, The Easter Bunny will be making appearances at Tenterden Town station, Good Friday and Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Spa Valley Railway

What – The fun begins at the Kent station of Tunbridge Wells West before boarding the train at either 09:45, 12:30 or 15:10 where Little Red Riding Hood and her friends encounter the very hungry, Big Bad Wolf. Along the way, Little Red will hand out activity packs and colouring pencils to all her friends onboard. Upon arrival at Eridge station, everybody will make their way onto the platform where Little Red and her friends will seek out the Easter Bunny. Expect lots of slapstick comedy. With a basket full of chocolate, we will board the train once again to travel back to Tunbridge Wells West, Little Red giving out eggs to everybody along the way. Read more.
