Vilanova Park Eurocamp Review – Read Before You Go

Over the October half-term, we stayed with Eurocamp at Vilanova Park in Spain. Having not stayed with Eurocamp during the October half-term before or visited a Parc in Spain, I was excited to explore the local area. Our visit fell over the three-day Halloween festival, which gave us an insight into how the beautifully landscaped parc may feel in high season.

How to get to Vilanova Park

We flew into Barcelona and hired a car for the week, which cost around 100€. However, we were travelling during the low season, which will affect the price of a hire car, and we brought our own car seat. It takes around thirty-five minutes to drive to Vilanova Park campsite. Our route took us on a toll road where we paid 2€. Card payments are accepted, and it is very easy. If you take a slightly longer route, then you can avoid the toll roads.

If you want to get public transport then getting a bus from the centre of Barcelona to the holiday park is possible. This is the same bus which you can use to visit the capital during your stay. However, please note it was only running Monday to Friday when we visited, I am not sure if this is the same during high season. You pick this bus up from Barcelona Gran Via 588. I took a photo of the times and have included it below. But please make sure it is current and the times have not changed since we visited. It costs 6.15€. We did not take this bus, but we spoke to a couple that did, and they said it took around forty minutes.

To get from Barcelona centre from the airport, there is Areobus, which offers a 24-hour-a-day service, for 7.25€ each. Running every 10 minutes from Terminal 2 and takes about thirty-five minutes. You can find out more about it here.

Arriving at Vilanova Park with Eurocamp

When you arrive, you need to go to the main reception. If, like us, you do not know the number plate of your hire car, then you will not be able to get through the security barrier. However, there are few places to park directly outside reception next to the palm trees. Before we arrived, I completed the online check-in, which was sent a few days before our visit. It is best to do this to avoid a 22€ admin fee.

Once checked in, you proceed to the Eurocamp reception, which is easily signposted and easy to find. Here, you are greeted by your Eurocamp staff, who will take you to your mobile home. This is a nice touch that prevents you from getting lost. Plus, if you are arriving by public transport, there are golf buggies to help transport your bag.

Eurocamp Reception

It is worth visiting the reception once you are settled. Not only is there a wide choice of books and toys to borrow. But also a lot of information on the local area, including the key things to see and do along with market days. The Eurocamp reps can also advise you on getting around and answer any questions you have. When we visited, there was someone there permanently, even though it was in the low season. They were very helpful.

Eurocamp Premium Mobile Home

Eurocamp offers various accommodation types across the holiday park, including classic, comfort and premium mobile homes. We stayed in a premium mobile home with covered decking and a lounge area. I was very impressed with how spotless it was when we arrived it looked brand new with very few signs of wear and tear. Sleeping six, it had one double and two twin rooms, with a separate toilet and bathroom. As we visited in October, I was pleased to find air conditioning, which also doubled up as a heater in the main living area. Each of the bedrooms and the bathroom also had very effective wall heaters.

The windows in the bedroom also came with a blackout blind and mosquito nets. These were very useful as we did notice quite a few mosquitos when it rained. However, there are no large bodies of water nearby other than the outdoor pools. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, including a good-sized fridge freezer, dishwasher, gas hob and microwave. Outside, there is also a BBQ. All the crockery and utensils sets were complete and spotless. There was also a toaster, kettle and coffee peculator. The living areas were a good size, and storage in each of the bedrooms as you would expect.

Outside, there was a large parking area, which would have easily fitted two cars. The covered deck had an outside table and chairs and an outside corner sofa at one end. It was fully covered, offering protection from both the sun and the rain. Meaning we could sit outside in the evenings regardless of the weather.

Vilanova Park Campsite

As well as our Eurocamp accommodation, I was very impressed with Camping Vilanova Park. There were palm trees and colourful flowers planted everywhere. The holiday parc was very well maintained throughout, with neat lines of mobile homes and roads that ran between them, brick walls and first-class facilities. It is probably the best holiday parc we have stayed on from this point of view. There are also main trees planted, which offer shade and privacy. There is also plenty of space between the mobile homes, so you are not overlooking anyone, and they are not overlooking you. I could tell it had been thought through. It is a beautifully maintained, lively site, although peaceful once you get away from the communal areas.

Vilanova Park Amenities

Classified as an extra large parc by Eurocamp, it has all the things that you would expect to need close to hand.

Wifi Access

You do have to pay for wifi access, which can be done at the main reception. It costs 20€ per a week for one device. There are shorter options, such as 3€ per a day. We didn’t purchase wifi, finding the phone signal to be 5G in our mobile home. If you are struggling, then there is also free wifi access in the restaurant and bar,

Restaurant and Bar

The Mas Roquer Restaurant and bar is located in a beautifully restored Catalan farmhouse overlooking the pool area. With inside seating, both in the bar area and also a restaurant, are off to one side. There is also plenty of seating outside with large umbrellas. It offers a good range of food options, from snacks and pizzas to a three-course meal and tapas. Considering they have a captive audience, we found the pricing to be very good. The three-course meal costs 18€ during the week and 25€ at the weekend per person. Pizzas are 13€, and they offer a take-out service as well as eat-in. Drinks are also well priced: 4.20€ for a large beer and 2.40€ for a glass of wine.

We ate there several times during our stay, including trying out their three-course meal with music one night. There are also floodlit fountains in the main pool area, which you can sit outside and observe as they change colour.

Snack Bar

There is also a snack bar next to one of the outside pools, but it was closed during our visit since we were off-season. As well as an additional snack bar in the courtyard area and a gelateria also closed. However, it does give other options during the high season.

Supermarket

Following on from the bar and restaurant, this was also very well priced with lots of choice. Although we visited an Aldi en route from Barcelona, this is not necessary with the way the onsite supermarket is stocked. There is also fresh bread in the morning, and most days, it is open until 8 pm.

Gift Shop

Next to the restaurant, there is a small gift shop selling a selection of inside and outside toys for children. There are also swim hats for the indoor pool.

Vilanova Park Facilities

The first thing I would do is download the Vilanova Park app when you arrive. This gives you details of all the activities that are running each day of your stay. As well as the ability to download the restaurant menus. There is a QR code at the main reception and also outside the gift shop in the centre.

Swimming Pools

As far as the boys are concerned, the most important thing when choosing a Eurocamp holiday park are the pool complexes. There are four outdoor swimming pools in two different locations, each having a large pool and a paddling pool for small children. As we visited in low season, the outdoor swimming pool with the water slides was closed. However, the one with the children’s splashdown area was open until the beginning of November. The boys did brave it for a short time.

If you would prefer a heated indoor pool, then you are in luck. There is also a wellness centre and fitness room. As this is an indoor spa, there is an extra charge, and you need to book your spot in advance at reception. However, it does come complete with a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. When we visited the cost was 10€ each, or you could buy a book of 10 for 50€. Because it is a spa, swimmers must wear a swim hat, and these can be purchased for 4€ each. Under 4s were free. We decided to give the indoor pool a miss on our visit due to the additional cost for four. Plus, there were plenty of activities to keep the boys busy.

Sports Facilities

There is something for the whole family. With table tennis located next to the restaurant, several tennis courts by reception and also three large basketball courts in the centre. These were multi-use courts, giving ample opportunity for a kickaround. Next to the courts was the largest of the play areas. There’s also one designed specifically for smaller children close to the main reception. Not to mention Harry’s favourite, the bouncy pillow, which was open at selected times of the day.

The boys like a game of miniature golf, and they have a good 12-hole course set up above one of the pool areas. With views of the sea and Vilanova i la Geltrú in the distance. There is an additional charge of 6€ per person, three for 12€. Clubs and balls can be picked up from reception. It is an astroturf course and provided us with a lot of laughs since none of us seemed to be very good!

Children’s Club

Vilanova Park also offers a children’s club. We visited Vilanova Park at Halloween, which meant that there were a lot of activities set up for the three-day festival, including fancy dress parties and live shows. They even thought of something for the older children which resembled a haunted house. All the staff spoke good English. Although we did not experience the full programme because of the time of year we visited, what we did see was very impressive. Details of what is running and when can be found in the app.

Day Trips and Public Transport

Vilanova Park is one of the many Eurocamp locations where you do not need to hire a car and instead use public transport. We did because of the day trips we wanted to do. However, if you would prefer not to, then there is plenty you can still get up to. With a bus stop right at the entrance to the holiday park, you can catch the local bus to the nearby towns Vilanova i la Geltrú. There is plenty to explore with a beautiful sandy beach, download the tourist map and bus routes in the Vilanova Park app. There is also a train station in Vilanova i la Geltrú where you can catch the train along to Tarragona.

It is a great location to enjoy Barcelona without staying in the city. The direct bus gives you the chance to visit the Sagrada Familia and Barcelona’s offical football ground, Camp Nou. Details of all the bus times are available at reception. You can also save money on the bus ticket by buying at multiples.

Port Aventura is something that the boys desperately wanted to do. Although this can be reached by bus, it takes around four hours. Driving yourself is probably the only economical option and takes around forty minutes.
