Halloween Movies on Netflix for Kids

UPDATED 2023 – Halloween movies on Netflix for kids. One of the things that we really enjoy doing as Halloween approaches is curling up on the sofa with hot chocolate to enjoy some Halloween cartoon movies on Netflix kids. Unlike many of the other lists on the internet, this will give you details of the Family Halloween movies for kids which are currently showing on Netflix in the UK. If you have other streaming services then I have also compiled lists for; Halloween Movies free on Amazon Prime for kids and Halloween Movies on Disney Plus. We will be travelling this Halloween so being able to have access to a streaming service. So that the kids can watch Halloween movies will make our journey easier. 

The boys are currently ages ten and six. This means that Charlie is starting to want to watch some of the scary movies. I have included the suggested rating and where available to help you decide if the movie would be suitable for your child. And have tried to include something for the whole family. This post was updated in September 2023, please let me know in the comments below if have missed any.

These are the best Halloween movies for kids to get you in the Halloween mood. There are a number of Halloween specials which have been created especially for the spooky season. As well as some much-loved fun movies perfect for young kids. And New for 2023 … Netflix Kids have added the first three Harry Potter movies.

Hotel Transylvania

  • 2012 U 91 minutes
  • Hotel Transylvania owner Dracula pulls double duty as an overprotective dad when an unwelcome suitor shows interest in his teenage daughter. Stream here

 

Hotel Transylvania 2

  • 2015 U 89 minutes – currently waiting to become available
  • A sequel to the very popular the animated film Hotel Transylvania which is sadly no longer available on Netflix. I would try and see it first if you can. As this one leads on when Mavis, Dracula’s daughter marries Jonathan. A human, slightly wacky backpacker that stumbles on the hotel in his travels. Baby Denis arrives shortly after and the cartoon revolves around Dracula looking for proof that his son is a vampire. So that the little family can remain in Transylvania. One for the entire family. Stream here.  

 

Gnome Alone

  • 2018 PG 85 minutes
  • After moving into a new house with her mom, high schooler Chloe discovers a troupe of talking garden gnomes. Who need her help saving the world. She has a decision to make will she choose the pursuit of normal high school life or fight against the Troggs. Stream here

 

Hotel Transylvania 3

  • 2018 U 97 minutes
  • It’s love at first sight for Dracula when he meets Ericka, the charming but mysterious captain of the monster cruise that Mavis plans for the family. Stream here

 

The Addams Family

  • 2019 PG 87 minutes – currently waiting to become available
  • This is a firm favourite in our household and the boys will happily watch it all year round. The animated version of the popular black and white movie. Sees the main characters move into a mansion that overlooks a newly built town by a TV reality host. All manner of mayhem ensues when she tries to make them fit into her stereotypes. But do not fear everyone lives happily ever after and is suitable for younger kids. Has some key messages for little ones going up. Stream here.  

 

Dream Works – Spooky Stories

  • 2008 PG 66 minutes
  • You can select to watch the three scary stories in one go or to watch each spooky movie individually. The three stories revolve around Shrek challenging Fiona, Donkey and Puss in Boots to spend the night in Lord Farquaads haunted castle. Leading to the need to rescue Fiona from the evil ghost of Lord Farquaads. With the third story focuses on monsters v aliens and the mutant pumpkin from outer space. Stream here. 

 

Blippi’s Spooky Spells Halloween

  • 2021 U 40 minutes
  • Ready to have the spookiest Halloween ever, Blippi sets out with his book of spells to search for treats, pumpkins and all kinds of eerie decorations.  Stream here 

 

Monster High – Haunted

  • 2015 U 75 minutes – currently waiting to become available
  • Hearing that their old school is being haunted. Spectra Vondergeist and her pals head back to Monster High to get to the bottom of the scary spookery. Stream here

 

Monster Island

  • 2017 PG 80 minutes – currently waiting to become available
  • When a teenager discovers he’s not really human. He ventures out to a remote island to explore his roots and confronts a series of wild challenges. Stream here

 

Spookley the Square Pumpkin

  • 2004 U 47 minutes
  • When a storm terrorizes his patch. A pumpkin cast out for his shape must step up to use his smarts to save the day and to prove himself. A great pumpkin story perfect for little kids this Halloween season. Stream here.

 

Super Monsters: Save Halloween

  • 2018 U 24 minutes
  • Harry in particular enjoyed watching the Super Monsters. Based on preschool kids whose parents are the world’s most famous monsters try to master their special powers while preparing for kindergarten. In this Halloween edition, the super monsters use their powers to get their neighbours n the Halloween spirit and then help a nervous friend see there’s nothing to be afraid of. Stream here.

 

Vida’s First Halloween: Super Monsters

  • 2019 U 24 minutes
  • Part of the same Vida’s first Halloween is based around the super monsters sharing their Halloween traditions with Vida. Before getting invited to a Dia de los Muertos party in the Howeler’s backyard. Stream here.

 

Super Monsters: Dia de los Monsters

  • 2020 U 25 minutes
  • The most recent in the Super Monsters Halloween trilogy. In this one, the super monsters celebrate día de los muertos in vida’s hometown. With a new friend (monster) and a spooktacular parade. Stream here.

 

True Tricky Treat Day

  • 2019 U 23 minutes
  • The Halloween episode of True and the Rainbow Kingdom Collection. Hary loves watching all of the feature-length episodes and the shorter series. In this Halloween special it is up to True and her friends to save the day when a hungry Yeti sneaks a forbidden treat and fills the kingdom with howling greenies. Stream here

 

Sharkdog’s Fantastic Halloween

  • 2021 U 25 minutes
  • A Halloween version of the series which has run for two seasons so far on Netflix kids about a pet dog / shark. The sharkpack gets ready for Halloween with the spooky legend of the ‘Fearsome Fog” – and sharkdog must save trick-or-treating from a slimy sea monster. Stream here

 

Ivy+Bean The ghost that had to go

  • 2021 U 61 minutes
  • Based on the popular book series this is the Halloween version in the collection. Both children have a knack for magic and use it to save their schoolmates. Cold, white mist. Clanking pipes. An eerie voice that coming from the drain. Is the school bathroom haunted? Ivy and Bean are on the case. Stream here.

 

Open Season Scared Silly

  • 2015 PG 84 minutes
  • If you like Open Season and Open Season 2 also available on Netflix then you will enjoy this Halloween special edition. When the spooky werewolf tale scars Boog our of joining the annual camping trip, his friend hatch a plan to cure him of his fear. Stream here

 

Captain Underpants Hack-A-Ween

  • 2019 PG 46 minutes
  • The Halloween version of the comedic Captain Underpants. When Melvin tried to cancel Halloween, clever best friends Harold and Georg create their own spooky holiday and it’s a huge success. Stream here

 

Cory Carson – A TooT-TooT Halloween

  • 2020 U 21 minutes
  • Another one of Harry’s favourites especially when he was younger. This is the Halloween special of the much-loved kid car Cory Carson who adventures around the roads of childhood in Bumperton Hills. In this episode, Cory, and his friends Chrissy and Freddie are on the hunt for king-sized candy bars this Halloween! But are all the treats worth the trek to the spooky side of town? Stream here

Goosebumps 2 – Haunted Halloween

  • 2018 PG 89 minutes – last day to watch 30th September
  • Three teens spend their Halloween trying to stop a magical book, which brings characters from the ‘Goosebumps’ novels to life. 

 

Monster House

  • 2006 U 90 minutes – last day to watch 30th September
  • A trio of friends sets out to expose the terrors of a vacant neighbourhood creepy house, which appears to have a craving for people – and a life of its own. Stream here. 

 

Erax

  • 2022 PG 15 minutes
  • Monstrous creatures leap from a magical storybook and unleash mayhem and mischief for Aunite Opal and her tween niece Nina in this spooky short film. Stream here.

 

Witches Ball

  • 2017 U 91 minutes
  • Beatrix can’t wait to be inducted as a witch. But an unfortunate incident threatens to take her pending title away if she doesn’t act fast. Stream here

 

The Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting

  • 2020 PG 98 minutes 
  • Recruited by a secret society of babysitters. A high schooler battles the Boogeyman and his monsters when they nab the boy she’s watching on Halloween. Supported by members of the society she discovers all the monsters she needs to fight to save him. Stream here

  • 1986 U 101 minutes
  • Watching this in my own childhood. Labyrinth is from the mind of Jim Henson. This musical fantasy film follows teen Sarah on an epic quest to save her baby brother from a kingdom of goblins. Stream here

 

Jumanji

  • 1995 PG 104 minutes – currently waiting to become available
  • Not strictly Halloween but spooky enough to include in this roundup. Two siblings discover an enchanted board game that opens a door to a magical world. And unwittingly release a man who’s been trapped inside for years. Stream here

These are great for when you do not have time for a Halloween film but still want to join in with the Halloween festivities a little bit. Or if you are looking for something for a Halloween party. 

Phantom Pups

  • 2022 U 1 season
  • A young boy and his family move into a haunted home, where he meets three adorable ghost pups and tries to help them turn back into real dogs. Stream here.

 

DREAMZZZ (Lego)

  • 2023 U 20 Episodes
  • Mateo, Izzie and their friends stumble into the Dream World, a realm of magic and fantasy where they must use their creativity to fight dark forces. Stream here

 

A Tale Dark & Grimm

  • 2021 PG 1 season
  • Follow Hansel and Gretel as they walk out of their own story into a winding and wickedly witty tale of strange and scary surprises. Stream here

 

Goosebumps

  • 1995 PG 1 Season – ends 30th Sept 
  • This TV series of the 90s based on the tales of R.L. Stine is meant to be scary, making it more suitable for older children and teenagers. With some episodes being actually scary it combines original stories with adaptations drawn from the popular book series. I remember watching this as a child and vowing never to watch it again. Saying that I still do not have a strong stomach for horror films! Stream here.

 

The Worst Witch

  • 2017 PG 4 Seasons
  • Having watched a TV version of this as a child and read the books when I was growing up. it is nice to see a much-improved series based on Jill Murphy’s beloved books. After stumbling into a school for witches, a bumbling heroine comes to realise that she just might belong there. Stream here.

 

Creeped Out

  • 2017 PG 2 Seasons
  • A masked figure known as “The Curious” collects tales of dark magic, otherworldly encounters and twisted technology in this kids anthology series. Stream here Stream here.

 

The Haunted House

  • 2016 PG 1 Season
  • A Korean-based cartoon in the popular Japanese style of animation. With help from a 102-year-old goblin dwelling beneath their haunted apartment building, two siblings deal with ghosts and take on spooky mysteries. 24 episodes. Stream here

 

Hotel Transylvania 

  • 2017 PG 1 Season
  • Based on the much-loved film this TV series spans twenty-six episodes. The cartoon style programme focuses on Mavis, while her dad is away looking for adventure. Only her strict auntie Lydia will stop her if she can. It is set four years before Hotel Transylvania. Stream here

 

Scaredy Cats

  • 2021 U 9 Episodes
  • On her 12th birthday, Willa Ward receives a purr-fect gift. That unlocks a world of witchcraft, taking animals and doing much more with her best friends. Reminiscent of Hocus Pocus but for kids. Stream here

 

Lemony Snickets – A Series of UN fortunate vents

  • 2019 PG 3 Seasons
  • Not just for Halloween this new adaptation of the much-loved book series runs for three seasons and has a number of well-known actors in it. The episodes vary in length but most are between forty and sixty minutes long. The extraordinary Baudlaire orphans face trials, tribulations and the evil Count Olaf in their fateful quest to unlock long-held family secrets. Stream here

 

Dead End – Paranormal Park

  • 2022 PG 1 Season
  • With season two coming on the 13th of October this is ideal for slightly older children who can relate to the main characters. Two teens and a talking pug team up to battle demons at a haunted park. And maybe save the world from a supernatural apocalypse. Stream here. 

 

The Last Kids on Earth

  • 2020 PG 3 books
  • When zombies and monsters invade his hometown, a scrappy 13 year old orphan teams up with his friends in the hopes of surviving the chaos. Stream here.

 

Julie and the Phantoms

  • 2020 PG 9 Episodes
  • Technically a TV series but definitely aimed at the teen market. Julie lost her passion for music when she lost her mom. But when three ghostly guys appear and lift her spirits, they decide to start a band together. Teenage themes. Stream here
