Beachcroft Beach Huts Review. Last weekend we visited the Beachcroft Beach Huts & Beachcroft Hotel with the boys. Staying from Friday to Sunday is located right on Felpham beach with stunning sea views. The boys and secretly the adults were all very excited about staying in the luxury beach hut suites. I have always wanted to go on  a beach hut holiday, especially with a sea view. Ever since I realised it was possible. Only staying in a traditional beach hut doesn’t exactly conjure up scenes of luxury. But that’s where the Beachcroft Beach Hut Suites come in. They are definitely not like any old beach hut in Bognor Regis that’s for sure. The only question I had was – would they be suitable for kids?

I have always wanted to go on a beach hut holiday. Here is how we got on – Beachcroft Beach Huts Review

Where are the Beachcroft Beach Hut Suites?

Located literally right on Felpham Beach in West Sussex. You could not get closer to the sea if you tried. In fact, you can lay in bed, assuming the kids let you, and listen to the waves gently washing up the pebble beach. Another plus for its location is that it is down a quiet residential culdesac, down a narrow seaside lane with its own car park. You really would not know they were there unless you looked for them. Part of the Beachcroft Hotel Bognor Regis, it is located right next door to the Beach Hut Suites share certain facilities with the hotel. But are to all intense and purposes are independent self-contained holiday homes with their own parking. It really is special to find accommodation on the beach in the UK. 

Felpham itself is a lovely Sussex Village with several traditional pubs ideal for a Beach Hut Holiday. Located next door to Bognor Regis its more popular counterpart. The Village is often overlooked which means it is a perfect place to stop for a quiet drink or Sunday roast. But close enough to walk or scoot to the attractions of a traditional seaside town. You could not get a more perfect location for families on the Sussex Coast, as since we live in West Sussex we have visited a lot of the coastline.

Beachcroft Beach Huts Holiday – Accommodation on the Beach in the UK

There is only one word that describes our room, stunning. There are four different beach huts, each with a name relating to the seaside. We stayed in Sand. Opening the front door you are greeted with a hallway, with light wood floors. To the right is the kid’s room, furnished with white bunk beds, a small desk and bright cushions. Harry was especially impressed with the round window! Also on the ground floor right next door is the family-sized bathroom with a gorgeous rain shower.

There is also a more traditional shower head perfect for the kid’s shower time. The shower cubicle is large and you could fit a small baby bath in there if needed. And in case you are wondering the water is piping hot and water pressure is really good. Which surprised me as I did think being so close to the coast would affect this. 

The bathroom also has plenty of white fluffy towels for your stay. As well as towelling robes for the adults and Cole & Lewis toiletries. With underfloor heating and a heated towel rail, it is nice a snuggly for when you are washing the sand out from between their toes. 

The Main Living Room Area in our Beach Hut Holiday

Carrying on up a couple of stairs into the stylish lounge area. I would challenge you not to have your breath taken away. As you look directly out sea through the large bi-fold glass doors that run the length of the front of the beach hut. With white walls and high ceilings, there is plenty of space. The boys immediately spotted the boat propeller light hanging from the ceiling. The artwork is in keeping with the nautical theme and is gorgeous with a huge canvas hanging above the very comfortable aquamarine sofa. And retro railway posters showing British sea-side resorts. Of course, there is a flat-screen smart TV that has Netflix and various other streaming platforms available. 

Also on this floor is a small smeg fridge stocked with soft drinks, fresh milk and a bottle of dry white wine. Plus a Nespresso coffee machine, selection of teas, smeg kettle, tea, coffee, pods, hot chocolate, biscuits. Everything you could possibly need to enjoy a cuppa. There is also a little unit that we think had a decanter of sloe gin, some board games and walk suggestions which is another great idea. 

The Outside Space – Beachcroft Beach Huts Review

Which has got to be one of the biggest attractions of the accommodation being on the beach. Bifolds run the whole length of the front of the Beachcroft Beach Hut Suites. The glass doors open up to a wooden private terrace. The glass balcony gives you views across the beach out to sea. Because of the way the huts are staggered and with clever planting, you do not overlook each other’s veranda.

There are two wooden loungers that the boys claimed instantly, so excited to be at the beach. And yes although we visited in March, the Beachcroft Hotel has thought of everything, including adding a couple of extra blankets. To allow us to wrap up warm while admiring the views and relaxing in this perfect spot. It would be an amazing place to share a bottle of rose wine as the sun goes down while the kids are in bed, the perfect way to end the day.

Our Room on our Beach Hut Holiday

Up a few, more carpeted stairs is the mezzanine master bedroom. The double bed is so comfy! We both slept really well although that could be the sound of the sea lulling us to sleep. With stylish touches, you do not normally find in accommodation suitable for children. Including amazing giant champagne style corks as bedside tables, Egyptian cotton and woollen throes. There is also a flatscreen TV, desk with light and additional storage for bags and clothes. Plus a couple of snuggly hot water bottles. Which is another lovely touch. But we did not need them as the beach hut was lovely and warm during our stay. We were able to control the underfloor heating ourselves and they also have air conditioning for the warmer months.

The bedroom is not enclosed and has a glass divider that comes up to about waist height. This means you can look down on the main living area. Or more importantly out of the doors to the sea and Felpham’s beach, from your bed! Can you tell we loved it?

Key Points for Families  – Beachcroft Beach Huts Review

• Private parking is literally right next to the beach hut so no matter how much you have to bring for the kids you do not have to walk far! Each hut has its own marked parking space. There is also an electric car charging point.
• A huge plus is that you have your own entrance hall with coat hangers and room for a small buggy or scooters. Much needed when staying in accommodation on the beach in the UK.
• There are some really lovely little touches such as buckets and spades left on the beds for the boys. As well as colouring sheets and scavenger hunts to keep them entertained. You can also borrow a fishing net from the reception.
• The kid’s room (second bedroom) is on the same level as the luxury shower room ideal for younger kids that still need to get up in the night to visit the loo. It is a bunk bed room and a hit with the boys.

 

And a few more…

• When we visited the other huts were occupied but we did not hear any of the other visitors.
• The veranda is completely enclosed, so even if the bi-fold doors are open the kids do not have direct access to the sea. This is key when looking at the accommodation on the beach in the UK.
• You could just about fit a travel cot upstairs next to the main bed if you moved the desk along slightly 
• The front door is fully lockable with a key so they can not let themselves out
• Split over three levels there are a few stairs in between to be mindful of with really little ones and watch them on the mezzanine level.
• The boys slept well in their bunk beds, although Charlie did need to sleep on the bottom one as the top was quite close to the ceiling and he could not sit up fully.  
• Four-legged friends are welcome – they are as dog friendly as they are family friendly.

 

Food Options at the Beachcroft Hotel 

The Beachcroft Beach Huts offer three different board options. Room only, bed and breakfast and dinner bed and breakfast. This gives you loads of flexibility when travelling with kids. Not only that but there are three different places to eat with menus to match. So something for everyone. 

Tamarisk Restaurant

We ate in the hotel’s Tamarisk Restaurant on our first night. I purposefully booked an early time and I was pleased to find it quiet on the basis the boys were very excitable about our stay. There is a three-course al la carte menu available. Which although not extensive had a wide selection of options to choose from, including local seafood, meat and vegetarian options. I could have quite easily eaten in there both nights during our stay and had trouble deciding on what to choose. Charlie as he usually does, ate off of the adult menu and the lady taking the order did not bat an eyelid. Harry had the kid’s menu choosing his favourite fish fingers and chips. 

There are plenty of waiting staff and nothing is too much bother. Even when Charlie threw his glass of water all over the table…. and the food well that’s delicious and I can see why people from outside the hotel will visit for a meal. Right next door there is Monty’s Bar & Bistro. It is less formal and offers Monty’s Bar menu which offers more relaxed food choices.

Breakfast 

It is always nice to have options. As we know travelling with kids things don’t always go to plan. When staying in the Beachcroft beach huts you can either opt to have a cooked breakfast in the Tamarisk Restaurant. Or you can have a continental breakfast delivered to your room in a breakfast hamper. On the first morning, the boys opted for a full English. There were also other less heavy options such as eggs on toast and kippers. I was pleased to see they had alternative milk options for Harry who is lactose intolerant. 

For our second morning, the sun was shining on the veranda so we decided to have breakfast delivered by room service. it comes in a lovely wicker basket with a tablecloth. We really enjoyed eating our croissants with ham and cheese, yoghurt and fresh fruit and drinking the freshly squeezed orange juice in the sun. 

Lunchtimes

The hotel also offers several other food options. Including picnic hampers to enjoy in the hut or even an al fresco lunch on the beach in the warmer weather. One of the benefits of having accommodation on the beach in the UK. Ours came with a selection of different types of bread, ham, cheese, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, rocket and smoked salmon. Including orange juice and mini bottles of prosecco for the adults.

There is also the option for afternoon tea in Blakes Bar & Beach Terrace. They also offer snacky style food ideal for keeping your energy up. While running around after the little ones. Located on the seafront it is also a good place to enjoy a gin and tonic while watching the waves crash against the shore. We stopped for sausage rolls and Cornish pasties. Sitting in a pod to stay out of the breeze. I can imagine that it is glorious in the sun. There is plenty of tables with umbrellas so in the warmer months a good place to take a break from the sun. 

Key Points for Families – Beachcroft Beach Huts Review

• The staff were brilliant with the boys at mealtimes. Harry in particular can be a little difficult yet they engaged with him. Suggesting he looks for different things in the colouring sheets.
• Dinner is served from 6 pm and there are no double sittings, which means you can take as long as you like. We noticed that the restaurant got busier from around 8 pm during our stay. Breakfast is served from 7.30 am.
• Menus are available online if you want to check for fussy eaters (like Harry).
• I would suggest requesting certain items for breakfast/picnic hampers to cater for your kid’s preferences 

Things to do with Families at the Beachcroft Beach Hut Suites

There is so much to do with the kids while staying at the beach huts and Beachcroft Hotel. Not to mention things in the local area. Although for my two just being close to Felpham beach will keep them occupied for hours. Running up and down the pebbles. Looking for treasure and just enjoying being outside. However, saying that there are a number of other things that the beach huts provide. But this accommodation on the beach in the UK offers so much more. 

Beachcroft Hotel Indoor Swimming Pool

There is a small indoor pool in the Beachcroft Hotel which you can pre-book in half-hour sessions. Being inside means that it is lovely and warm. Plus how often do you get the chance to have a pool to yourself? There are changing cubicles next to the pool and loungers to relax on. The pool is all one height 1.25m so make sure you remember floating devices for kids if they are not competent swimmers. 

Hire Bikes

beach hut guests have access to adult bikes free of charge. Along the front of Felpham Beach, there is a promenade which is the ideal place to cycle this is part of the 630 mile coastal path. You can either go right towards Bognor Regis or left towards Middleton on Sea. They can be used to explore the coastal footpath or cycle into the village of Felpham. Or are very useful if you have the kid’s scooters in the back of the car and want to try and keep up with them! Helmets are also provided. 

Rockpools

Use the nets that are provided in the suite to explore the rock pools which become visible at low tide. If you turn left and walk towards the sailing club on Felpham beach you will find them. I have it on good authority from friends that love locally that you can usually find crabs hiding. 

Deck Chairs

While the kids are busy enjoying the rock pools and most probably getting drenched. You can sit back and relax in a beach chair available to hire from the Beachcroft Hotel. Just imagine sitting in the sun listening to the kids giggling as they annoy some more unsuspecting crab…Even at high tide, there is plenty of beach for the kids to enjoy

Beach Scavenger Hunt – Felpham Beach

Also provided is a pictorial beach scavenger hunt. Harry particular likes searching for things so this was right up his street. It is also very useful if you decide to walk along the coast. Keeping him entertained and not moaning about being bored. 

Ice Cream Vouchers

We were delighted to find a free ice cream voucher for each of us in the beach hut. These can be redeemed at Pinks Ice Cream Parlour in Bognor Regis. I mean who doesn’t like free ice creams and this is traditional gelato with a wide range of flavours. The ice cream parlour is about a fifteen-minute walk along Felpham Beach into Bognor but easy to find.

Seaside and Nature Walks & Trails

Also provided in the hut is a little booklet of walks, which gives you ten different walk suggestions in the walking guide. They range in distance from 0.8 miles through to 8.4 miles and many are on the coastal trail. I was pleased to see some easy walks that the kids would enjoy. And some more challenging ones suitable for older kids. A few also take in the beautiful South downs of West Sussex. 

Snooker Table

In the Beachcroft Hotel lobby, there is a small snooker table. Which turned out to be a big hit with the boys. They have not played snooker before and so enjoyed learning about the game and having a go themselves. Also being a smaller size means that it is much easier for them to play. 

Board Games

The boys enjoy playing board games so it was nice to spot a Junior Monopoly and Scrabble in the hut itself. Although we opted to play cards one evening if we had stayed slightly longer the Monopoly would have definitely come out. Plus it is useful to have some sort of entertainment if the good old British weather didn’t play ball and rainy days. I have lost track of the number of holidays where I forget to pack a game for the evening… nice to see they have thought of everything (again). 

Felpham Village

You are only a short walk or bike ride from the village. A lovely walk-in will lead you to the William Blake trail and several pubs. Some of them have live music in the evenings. We had an amazing stay at the Beachcroft Beach Huts & Beachcroft Hotel Felpham. Despite my initial reservations, it is an amazing place to take kids. Beachcroft beach huts get the balance right between the accommodation being luxurious for the parents. Suitable for children and provides enough activities to keep kids entertained. Which helps to make Mum and Dad’s life easier! Is a fine balancing act.

But I think the Beachcroft Hotel and the Beach Hut Suites manage it very well. Whether you are looking for a beach hut stay to tick something off the bucket list or just a relaxing break at the coast. You will not be disappointed with the Beachcroft Hotel Beach Hut Suites they are the most luxurious beach huts we’ve ever visited- Accommodation on Felpham beach in the UK.
