Camel Creek Adventure Park Cornwall. To be honest, visiting an Adventure Park is probably not at the top of my to-do list when visiting Cornwall. However, the boys love an adventure park or theme park.  When we are away we try to split the time up so that we do some things that mummy and daddy enjoy and some things that they do. I am so glad we went as Camel Creek Adventure Park is not only a great day out for younger children. But we all had a great time, something if I am honest I was not expecting. They have some big plans too with new rides arriving in the park in the next few weeks, just in time for the Summer season. So if the question is should we visit Camel Creek Adventure Park then my answer is a resounding yes.

Where is Camel Creek Adventure Park Cornwall

Camel Creek Adventure Park is located in Waybridge which is about twenty minutes south of Padstow. It is on the A39. If you want to use a sat nav then you can use the postcode PL27 7RA. However, we had no problem finding the park via the brown signs. When we visited we headed to Fowey at the end of the day which is close to where we were staying, this was a 40-minute drive. 

If you are driving to Camel Creek you will be pleased to know there is a large carpark which is free of charge. Unlike many other them parks. However it is not on a bus route, so you do really need to drive. In previous years First Kernow did add the park as a stop on its Turo to Waybridge journey during the Summer months. So you may want to contact them to see if this is still an option. 

Tickets for Camel Creek Adventure Park

Like many other attractions, it is essential that you pre-book tickets in advance via the website. On the day we visited they were sold out, so make sure you plan ahead. As I can imagine in the Summer months it being extremely busy. I really like that ticket prices are based on the height of the child. Or it is possible to buy family tickets.  A family of four costs £64, those over 105cm  £17,95, those between 92cm and 105cm £15.95 and then those under 92cm are free. They also have family tickets for three or five. 

If you love local or are likely to be visiting the park a lot then the Camel Creek Annual Pass is most definitely worth considering.  It is probably one of the best value annual passes I have come across. Under 92cm are free, 92-105cm are £28.95 and over 105cm (and adults) are £42.95! There are also a whole host of other benefits including 10% off food and drink and purchases in the gift shop.

I also noticed that if you are on holiday and so an annual pass will not get the usage. That they have an offer running where you can extend your ticket for another day by paying £4.50 each. 

Camel Creek Rides for children 105cm and under

Originally I was going to look at rides that were suitable for Harry, who at the point we visited was 110cm. However, you may have guessed it from the pricing structure by the magic number is 105cm at Camel Creek. At 110cm Harry could go on everything he wanted there were only two rides (see below that he could not). Many of the rides he could go on in his own right with his older brother. This also means that mum and dad get a chance to sip coffee and take in the happy faces. 

I really liked that it was very clear before you queued up if you would be able to ride or not. Our first port of call was the Wave Rider. It is the first ride you come to and is a lovely ride reminiscent of times gone by. The boys really enjoyed riding it.  We then went down to the Raging Rivers which was the boys favourite ride by a long way.  They managed a couple of fo goes before the queues got a bit longer. Harry had to go on with an adult. But the giggles. It really needs to be on the list. Charlie scraped through at 140cm so could ride on his own.

The other favourite ride for Harry was Vertigo. Again Harry could go on on his own, although he was right on the line for height allowance. It was not the highest ride of its type that the boys have been on. But it was probably the longest ride and there was plenty of going up and down which they loved. 

How many rollercoasters has Camel Creek got?

The park has three rollercoasters. Two of them are specifically aimed at younger children, Harry could go on both of them on his own if he wanted to. First, there was Morgawr which is a small dragon ride. The second is the Clown Coaster which is located with a number of the other smaller rides. Both are more than suitable for younger children enough oooo and ahhh without any of the eek!

The third coaster is significantly bigger, called Air Rider it is on the other side of the park. You have to be 130cm to ride. It is a small car seating four and there are plenty of corners and dips. It goes quite high as well. Due to the small car, the queuing time for the ride was the longest we experienced when we visited. However, with the smaller kids rides close by it meant Harry and I could have lots of fun nearby, while Charlie got his wish.

Which is the best area for little ones?

Camel Creek is split into four areas. The one with all the rides designed specifically for children aged around two and over is Swampy & Dina Land. All the rides are designed for little ones. And there are also plenty of other areas which are outside of the mechanical rides. Including slides, and then cottages that contain ball pits and soft play. There is even a  water balloon area where you can buy water balloons and fire them at each other. But it was the slides that really stole Harry’s heart. 

Please note the park will be launching some new rides in the Summer months, as we visited in the May half-term these were not open. I will update this blog post once we know what the height restrictions for these rides look like 

Camel Creek Rides for children 130cm and over

At the moment there are only a couple of rides which are designed for older children. As mentioned there is the Air Rider. There is also the 5D simulator ride called Mission Sim Possible. There are two options for those over 130cm it is possible to ride in one of five pods. Each pod takes four people and under current restrictions only one family at a time. For those under 130cm it is still possible to watch the film with 3D glasses but they do not get any of the movement which you get in the movement from the pod.  The warnings before you go in suggest not going on it if you have recently eaten. We went on an hour after having lunch and I can totally see why! 

Inside attractions at Camel Creek 

As well as all the mechanical rides outside there are lots of things to do inside. This also makes it a good attraction if the British weather is not playing ball.  Let’s face it there is never a guarantee. There is the Playhouse at the entrance which is a giant soft play.  There is also some animal attractions including the reptile house, pets corner and the stables all of which are undercover. Plus the toddler cottages which are inside. 

What age is Camel Creek most suited for?

Currently, the adventure park I would think is best for 2-6-year-olds as they can go on almost all the rides (depending on height). There are rides that specifically cater for them and judging by Harry. Really enjoy. Charlie enjoyed a number of the rides but is on the verge of being too old for the park. I think with the new rides that are coming in the Summer including a Viking Swing Boat and Thunder Falls the park will start to address this. 

Where is there to eat at Camel Creek Adventure Park

There are several ice cream and drinks kiosks around the park. In addition, there are two eateries. One in the Play Barn and the other called Treasure Island located in amongst the Swampy and Dina Land. We ate in the Treasure Island restaurant that had paninis, pasties and kids lunch boxes. They offer a meal deal for both children and adults which includes a drink and either chips or crisps.  Depending on the options chosen the prices vary between £6- £9. The Play Barn also offers burger options.  There is also a large number of picnic tables and places where you can eat your own food. Some of which are undercover. 

Top Tips for Visiting Camel Creek

We had a wonderful time visiting Camel Creek and I am sure that you will do. Here are a couple of tips to make it even better.

• Arrive as the park opens. Especially during the holidays and when the new rides open. We found that the park was busiest mid-morning through to mid-afternoon. 
• We arrived at 10am and after a quick go on the Wave Rider as you walk in past it, headed for the Raging Rivers. This meant in the first twenty minutes the boys went on three rides (they went on the Raging Rivers twice). To be fair many of the rides you do not have to queue that long for 10-20 minutes. The two outside of this was the Air Rider and the Mission Impossible. So I would head to these on arrival. The park is small enough that everything is close together. 
• Try and get on all the rides you want to fo before lunch. Lunch was seemingly the busiest time when we visited. So we opted to pick up the animals straight after eating. Finding these areas quiet and avoid the busiest times on the rides. I would also just say that Mission Impossible due to its 5D nature is definitely not suitable if you have just eaten.
• There are plenty of indoor areas so even in the bad weather the children will still have fun. At the moment all of them are open other than the toddler village due to the pandemic. The other areas are the Play Barn (which is huge), pets corner, reptile house and the stables.
