Nymans National Trust after lockdown. We have been lucky to visit a number of different National Trust properties since lockdown. Which you can find more information about at the bottom of this post. Initially, I was able to secure tickets in the morning on a Friday, but I have found that it is now easier to get them when they first go on sale at midnight. Thankfully Friday is my day off work so a late-night is not too much of an issue.

However, I appreciate this is not the case for all, and I know there are plenty of people out there who have been unable to get tickets. At the moment they are only allowing around 30% of capacity. However, all National Trust gardens we have visited have been perfectly fine and not overcrowded. Partly because of the excellent one way systems they have put in place. I think they should perhaps limit people to only one set of tickets a week. Because at the moment in theory (I’ve not done it). It is possible to get a/some tickets for one property and then hop back on again and secure another set of tickets for the same or another property.
Nymans is one of our favourites and the closest National Trust property. We like to visit frequently so the fact we have been unable to, has meant we have really missed it. So I and both the boys were really looking forward to our trip. However, it ended up being a little disappointing. They are upgrading the cafe which meant all refreshments were closed and they did not have a mobile unit open, unlike other properties we have visited. The boys were hoping for ice cream.
They have put one large one-way system in place which is great. But it did mean that we felt like we missed a lot of the grounds. I am not sure why. Maybe it is because we know the property so well. It was also very hot any generally everyone was a little ratty. The woods are closed from entry through the gardens. Instead, you can reach them through the carpark. It is possible to look at the house from the outside but both courtyards are closed. The large lawns are open and it is a great place for a picnic and a runaround. Some of the flower beds and the rose garden are also looking stunning which is no mean feat considering the upkeep they need. And the boys also made friends with the sheep in the top field.

From what I can work out Nymans is one of the more popular properties for tickets. And as beautiful as it we have preferred our wet and windy visits to Polesdon Lacey more. We are also hoping to get tickets for Cliveden, Sheffield Park, Scotney Castle, and Claremont in the coming weeks. We are also hoping that some of the shops may start to open again soon so that the boys can continue to collect the stamps for their national trust passports which they have been missing out on in our recent visits.
