With Mother’s Day fast approaching, many people are looking for something to do. A visit to a tea shop for afternoon tea is the perfect way to celebrate. If you are looking to have a day trip to Brighton for afternoon tea then I have pulled together some of the best places for afternoon tea in Brighton. A city in which we lived for over ten years. Hopefully, you will find the perfect place for a Mother’s Day afternoon tea in Brighton. Perhaps even the famous Grand Brighton afternoon tea? Although these locations operate all year round and some offer special seasonal menus, festive afternoon tea and even a traditional cream tea in Brighton.

Afternoon tea in Brighton does not need to be expensive. I have tried to pull together a list which offers something for each budget. Of course, if you are looking to splash out on Mothers Day afternoon tea in Brighton then there are some more expensive options too.

This special little tea room is actually up for an award for best afternoon tea in Brighton so it definitely needs to be mentioned as a place you might consider enjoying yourself. The Mock Turtle Tea Shop

Close to the Royal Pavillion, this is a lovely small and cute little tea shop where you can enjoy a selection of dishes as well as a delicious afternoon tea. Decorated with tradition in mind this is a lovely place for you to enjoy an afternoon tea with your mum or special people in your life. You can also enjoy other lovely menu options if you wish. The Little Tea Shop In The Lanes

This is the best place for afternoon tea in Brighton if you wanted something unique, modern, quirky and a little bit special. The Ivy in Brighton is renowned for its stunning menus and the decor is beautiful, you can not help but take a selfie in the toilets with the wallpaper! The menu is avaliable on the website but includes salmon and cream cheese finger sandwiches and warm scones. Stanmer Tea Rooms

This is one of the best places for a themed afternoon tea in bright as Stanmer Tea Rooms is offering a High Tea in Wonderland-themed experience. Whether it be for a natter with a friend on a Saturday afternoon or the perfect Mother’s Day venue, you must book yourself into Wonderland. Delicious mini cakes, home-baked scones and finger sandwich options to enjoy a bottomless tea selection. You can add a glass of fizz. With a choice of prosecco for £24.95 or English sparkling wine for £29.95. This is an experience not to be missed and perfect for an afternoon tea that is a little different. Offering unlimited tea or cafetiere coffee. One of the things I really like about this option is that if you are not a fan of sweet they offer a savoury plate. The Grand Brighton afternoon tea

If you were looking for something a little fancy then you have to experience The Grand Brighton afternoon tea. So many wonderful menu options with the favourite local spirit Brighton Gin in fabulous balloon glasses. A beautiful location on the seafront overlooking Brighton beach it really does do this traditional experience very well. Their ‘afternoon tea by the sea’ is served every in the opulent Victoria Terrace & Lounge. Offering savoury options including pork and leek sausage rolls as well as sandwiches. Cakes can be chosen from a cake trolley. They also have their own different blends of tea and offer a gluten-free afternoon tea. Served at 2 pm or 4 pm in the week, or with an additional 12 pm sitting at the weekends.

Brighton Regency Routemaster

Where: Pool Valley Bus Station, Brighton, BN1 1NJ
Cost: Starting price £43, prices vary depending on the option chosen and where you sit on the bus. With premium seats and upstairs costing more.

Fancy afternoon tea on a bus? Then this is the experience for you. Travel in style on board the iconic Routemaster bus RML 2333. The Routemaster has been beautifully restored into a fine dining bus. Sit back and relax at tables for two or four while you enjoy a traditional afternoon tea or treat yourself to one of the Brighton Gin or Prosecco upgrades. This is a more unique experience and will give you a chance to see Brighton while enjoying delicious savoury and sweet treats. They also offer a reduced price for children. Browns Brighton

terre à terre

Anything special to mention: They offer a specially created vegan afternoon tea, and drink upgrades are available. Not avaliable on a Saturday.

Afternoon teas are made up of one savoury plate served first, followed by three tiers of sweet delights with a choice of tea or coffee. Includes a wide selection of more unusual menu options including clementine sorbet, pomegranate molasses, chocolate hazelnut truffle cake and almond polenta cake. Julien Plumart

Anything special to mention: There is very limited information available as they do not have a website yet.

The French Patisserie and cafe has been around for a long time. They offer a selection of savoury sandwiches and croissants. As well as delicious-looking cakes. Including high-quality macaroons, pastries, cakes, tarts and chocolates. They are avaliable on Deliveroo and their Facebook Page has some beautiful photos.

At the time of writing this article, the Royal Pavilion tearoom was closed. But it is worth keeping an eye on the Royal Pavilion website to see if the famous afternoon tea makes a comeback.
