As I mentioned in our top tips for your first family holiday to Eurocamp article we have inadvertently become quite knowledgeable on what a Eurocamp Holiday entails. Over the last seven years, we have been on nine of them. With our tenth booked for later this year. For us, this self-catering holiday with young kids has been our mainstay. However, we are often asked about packing lists, so I am sharing everything we take with us, our Eurocamp Holiday Packing List.

ToggleThe Ultimate Eurocamp Holiday Packing List
I am not going to list out the clothing that we take with us. Depending on where you are going, the weather forecast and at what time of the year you are travelling will determine what sort of clothing you want to take. My only advice here is don’t take too much. The kids spend so much time in the pool that they never go through an outfit a day, which is generally what I tend to pack. Not only that as we tend to take a step back with these holidays I very rarely pack anything that I would consider smart, although we may eat out occasionally generally these are campsites and so other people dress accordingly.

What not to pack?
Let’s start with the easy bits. We tend to take our own car, and I remember the first time we drove down to stay in a cottage on Lake Como (not Eurocamp) Charlie was about 12 months old and I took a stair gate (he was an early walker). Looking back on it we really needed it for that trip I am not sure why I booked such unfriendly child accommodation.
However, with Eurocamp holidays you so not need to worry, generally, the Eurocamp accommodation is very child friendly and you can hire the things you need. If you do this in advance, it should be ready and waiting for you when you arrive. Items such as a high chair, bed rail, baby bath, travel cot and bath mat. If not you may need to pick them up from the Eurocamp reception.
It is also worth checking in advance if they also have a selection of beach toys in the reception area. Especially if you are flying. Over the years we have found that it is dependent on the individual Eurocamp rep but some will have a selection of things to loan out.
The last time we went we visited Atlantic Club Montalivet Campsite near the South of France, just north of Bordeaux. We took the boy’s bikes which worked really well as they would head out and get fresh croissants and bread most mornings from the onsite shop. However many of the campsites allow you to hire bikes so again worth checking in advance if you do not want to take your own.
Self-Catering Eurocamp Holiday Packing List – Kitchen
We do not opt for the welcome pack since we normally drive and therefore have a few essentials that we always take with us. As it is likely to be a road trip we also take a cool bag that we can not only use on the way down but also if we go out on day trips. It is hard not to pack everything but the kitchen sink…
- Travel size washing up liquid, dish cloth and dish sponge
- Small surface cleaner
- Soap
- Tea Towels
- A Sharp knife
- Small bin bags and a couple of larger black sacks
- Ice cube bags
- String and some pegs (although most have an airer now)
- Dishwasher tablets if staying in premium/ultimate accommodation
- Tin foil, cling film or sustainable alternative
- Water bottles or sippy cups for toddlers
- Laundry supplies

Self-Catering Eurocamp Holiday Packing List – Food
Most of the campsites will have a small shop, although it is a good idea to bring some things from home. Especially for that first night in case you get delayed when driving. We tend to have pasta and sauce avaliable as a back up along with a bottle of wine! Depending on the Eurocamp site we quite often use the local supermarket over the on-site shop as it will be cheaper with a larger choice. Although much is dependant on if you have a car or not. I try to check the local area ahead of our holiday to understand where the closest one is.
- Salt and pepper
- Tea, coffee, sweetener or sugar
- Squash in one of the little squeezy bottles
- Breakfast cereals and oat milk
- Olive oil and Balsamic vinger
- Ketchup and Mayo since we live on BBQs generally
- Snacks for the journey
- Ice pops (unfrozen)
- Wine, beer and some water to tide us over until we can do a quick shop
- We also take butter if we have a cool box, yoghurt (as my youngest is fussy) and some ham/cheese for rolls on route or when we arrive
- Shopping bags
- Matches or a lighter
- Cool bag rucksack
- Water bottle to refill
In addition to packing the essentials for your Europe trip, it is important to bring along some healthy staple snacks for the whole family, especially if you are planning an active holiday with long travel days, sightseeing and adventures. Having convenient snacks on hand can help keep energy levels up between meals and prevent unnecessary spending on less healthy options while on the go. Snacks that are easy to pack and high in protein, like Biltong beef, mixed nuts, protein bars, roasted (and sealed) chickpeas, trail mix, crisps and more, are a great way to go. These are travel-friendly, filling and perfect for the whole family.
Technology and Entertainment
The boys are now 12 and 8 and so we tend to take some things that are suitable for older children. There are normally lots of activities

If you have opted for their new Ultimate range of self-catering accommodation then these things are included in the price and you arrive to made beds which is a game changer.
We will be flying and not hiring a car for our next family holiday with Eurocamp so it will be interesting to see how this affects our packing.
