20 of The Best Halloween Events in Surrey 2024

UPDATED – September 2024. There is something about Autumn and crunching leaves beneath your feet, finding conkers and misty mornings. It is my favourite season. The boys are keen on it as well since it means Halloween is on the way, they can go pumpkin picking which they love doing in either Sussex or Surrey. Plus there are loads of family-friendly Halloween events for kids being run. As we live on the Sussex, and Surrey border we are spoilt for choice when it comes to Halloween Days Out. There is a lot going on with plenty of Halloween events in Sussex. But also some brilliant Halloween Events in Surrey, I am sharing brilliant half term activities in Surrey ones with you on this post. Do let me know if you think I have missed and I will add them in. Plus I am always looking for good recommendations.

The Best Halloween Events in Surrey 2024

What I really like about Halloween Events in Surrey is that there is such a diversity of things to do in a week of spooky fun. This means no matter how old your children are, there is something here for them. The four-year age gap between the boys is starting to show. Although I know in time it will reduce, Charlie at 12 has a lot more stamina for some of the more creepy things. While Harry at 8 is all about pumpkins and treats! So half-term activities are very much of a juggling act for us this year. Where possible I have included prices and details correct as of September 2024. However, some places may not have released all the information. So make sure you check the individual website before attending.

Bocketts Farm Witches & Wizards Week

What – There is so much going on at Brockets Farm as well as all the usual fun of soft play, small animal encounters, and outdoor play areas. There is a talking reptiles show, science and slime shows, a pumpkin village, face painting, a creepy craft corner and an of course a witches and wizards quiz trail. You can also meet and greet the owls and birds of prey, go on a tractor ride and ride a pony. A fun packed spooky day don’t forget your Halloween costume.

How much – You can book tickets online in advance, places are limited so this is recommended. Adults cost £18 each, children aged 3-17 years cost £19.50, and two-year-olds are slightly reduced at £17.50 each with free entrance for children under 2 years.

Chessington World of Adventures – HALL’O’WEEN

What – Chessington World of Adventures is running a FaBOOlous Halloween event for the whole family. With entertainment for all ages, rides at dusk, Halloween fancy dress competitions a trick or treat experience Enchanted Hollow full of special effects. Where you can meet the charming animal residents of Enchanted Hollow, as you and your family wander through the recently unearthed underground town complete with a Mayor’s House, Post Office and Sweet Shop. This Halloween the locals are all ready to treat you … but beware, some do play cheeky tricks as well.

How much – If you book your tickets in advance you can make quite a saving when compared with the door price of £52. Prices are from £32 a day with an early saver discount. Enchanted Hollow is an optional extra and can be bought in a package alongside a Howl’o’ween day ticket with prices from £8.

Godstone Farm – Halloween Extravaganza & low bang fireworks

What – Godstone farm is first and foremost an adventure farm park. So it gives you a great opportunity to combine spooky events with a day out. For this reason, again tickets are more expensive. Master the art of broomstick flying and don’t miss out on Rosina the fortune teller’s mystical predictions. Leave time for the kids to putt their way through their Halloween mini golf course and explore our bone-chilling skeleton scavenger hunt. Tickets will be available for purchase on the day to enjoy carving your own petrifying pumpkins.
It is also possible to combine your Halloween ticket with a special low bangs fireworks event that is running on the 27th and 28th of October. When – Their Halloween event – Halloween Extravaganza throughout the October half term – from Saturday 21st of October to Sunday the 29th of October. Farm opening times are 9.45 am to 16.45 pm.

How much – pumpkin carving ticket upgrades cost £3.50 in addition to the entrance costs. Tickets for pumpkin carving can be brought on the day from the gift shop. Entrance tickets for the Halloween-themed week cost between £13.95 for adults and children age 2 and over depending on the dates chosen. Children under two cost £7.00 with babies under one visiting for free. If you want to combine your tickets with the fireworks then it costs £27.50 for adults and children over the age of two, £19.50 for those under two and babies under one visiting for free.

Hampton Court Palace – Halloween & Ghost Tours

What – Lose yourself in atmospheric projections and creepy sound effects as the palace is transformed by magical spells. Double, double, toil and trouble, there’s even more magic afoot as witches and alchemists have taken over parts of the palace. Head to the Gallery of the Damned and see eerie portraits come to life, or stop by the Council Chamber to take part in a spine-tingling séance. As you creep beyond the Haunted Garden, see if you can spot the intricately carved pumpkins. After all that exploring, cosy down to hear some spooky stories and then relax with a Halloween-themed treat from the cafe. More Information. There are also Ghost talks which run at 11.30 am and 2.30 pm.
When – The daytime Halloween event will run from the 26th of October to the 3rd of November.

How much – Tickets need to be booked in advance, you can buy tickets online with or without a donation. An adult ticket costs from is £27.20, children £13.60 with under 5s being free.

Painshill Park – ZOOLab Trail

What – If you are looking for something which is less Halloween and more Autumn then the Painshill Park ZOOLab trail is for you. Pick up a trail and find scary creatures hidden on the spooktacular trail. It is included in the price of a normal entrance ticket and you can also enjoy all of the leaves changing colour and the children’s play area. Make sure you also stop by the stunning crystal grotto. There are also animal encounters taking place on the 28th October and the 1st of November. These sessions have to be booked separately.
When – The trail is running over October half-term from the 26th of October to 3rd of November 10 am to 4 pm.
Where – Painshill, Cobham, Surrey, KT11 1JE
How much – Tickets should be booked in advance where possible to avoid queuing at the entrance. Tickets cost £11 for an adult and £6 for a child aged 5-16 with gift aid. Under 5s are free. Tickets brought on the day from the ticket office are more expensive for adults at £13.50.

National Trust – Polesden Lacey

What – This year Polesden Lacey they are running a Tiger that came to Tea trail. Pick up a free trail sheet and join Sophie and her mummy as they feed a very hungry tiger. Play games, dress-up with creative costumes from the story or cosy up and read the book together. Events at Polesdon Lacey
When – Runs from the 16th of September to the 3rd of November 10 am to 3.30 pm

How much – Prices for non-National Trust members – £16.50 for adults, £8.30 for children or £41.30 for a family of four with gift aid. Free for National Trust members.

Priory Farm – Halloween Trail at Discovery Land

What – If you are looking for a spooky adventure for younger children then this is the one for you. At Discovery Land, join our enchanting Halloween Trail for the Festival of Nature’s Hallows. Help Fern, Timber, and Pebble unravel the mystery caused by our Weather Witch and the mischievous Mud Monsters. They also offer pumpkin picking where tractor rides take you to a pumpkin patch so you can choose your very own pumpkin. There is also a park-and-pick pumpkin experience without the pumpkin train, at a reduced price of £6.50. When – Various dates through October, with the Halloween trail opening on the 4th of October. And the 5th of October for the pumpkin picking and Halloween trail. Time slots are half an hour each and run from 10 am to 3.30 pm.

How much – The Halloween discovery trail costs £8.50 (non peak) or £10.50 (peak) each for everyone over the age of 2. The pumpkin field ride costs £8.50 each for everyone over the age of 1. Pumpkins are not included in the price of the ticket. Tickets do need to be booked in advance via their website.

Guildford Halloween Ghost Tour

What – A long-established ghost tour that runs every Friday night from Good Friday through the end of November in Guildford town centre. Run by Philip Hutchinson, who is a professional actor and a life member of The Ghost Club, the oldest paranormal society in the world. The spooky walk lasts around one and three-quarters of an hour and covers 20 different haunted sites and ancient buildings. Good for older kids. http://www.ghosttourofguildford.co.uk/index.html

Where – Tours begin in Guildford High Street on the pavement by the central steps outside Holy Trinity Church.
How much – Adults cost £10 and children £5 although it is recommended for those over the age of 8. There is no need to book in advance. Just turn up.

RHS Wisley – Wicked Plants

What -Follow the fangtastic family trail around the garden this Spooktacular half term at RHS Garden Wisley. A fun outdoor trail to discover unusual plants and enjoy seed planting and Halloween crafts. The perfect Halloween fun for all the family. Of course, there are normal gardens and children’s play areas to explore. Wisley at half term.
When – Runs throughout October half term 10 am to 4 pm each day.
Where – RHS Garden Wisley, Wisley Lane, Woking, Surrey, GU23 6QB
How much – There are no additional charges for the activities. If you are a member of the RHS then entrance is free. If not normal entrance fees apply, an adult ticket with gift aid costs £18.20 and without gift aid, it is £16.50. Children are £9.10/£8.25. A family ticket of two adults and two children costs £46.80/£42.50. These are online ticket prices which are cheaper than those at the door.

Hatchlands Park National Trust

What – Hatchlands Park is running two different Halloween activities over the half term. None of the events need booking in advance. Plus you can access the brilliant natural play area.
Pumpkin Hunt & Half Term Trail – Halloween fun with a pumpkin hunt in the garden for the little ones and spooky activities on their parkland trail. They even have some broomsticks to help you on your way!

When – Open throughout October half term. With the house opening from October 31st to November 4th. Trails are open from 10 am to 4 pm, and the house is open from midday to 4 pm.

Kew – Halloween

What – This is brand new for 2024 and we have booked tickets to visit Halloween at Kew and I can not wait. I will of course be sharing our experience here. Organised by the same people that producers of Christmas at Kew, this after-dark Halloween trail is filled with so many hidden surprises. We have been to one of their previous events at Blenheim Palace. So I have high hopes for this one. Flickering flames in a fiendish fire garden, daring fire artists and grinning pumpkins aglow. Where – Kew Gardens car park (TW9 3AF, Ferry Lane, near Brentford Gate.)
How much – Booking tickets in advance is a must, parking is limited and you can also select a parking ticket during the checkout process. Prices are £15 for members and £20 for non-members at peak times. Cheaper options are available for non-peak times, expect to pay £67 for a family ticket. Many time slots have already sold out due to popular demand.

Enchanted Claremont

What – The enchanted Claremont trail makes a return for 2024. Help the wandering witch find the things that the goblins have hidden on the spooktacular scavenger hunt. Denbies Estate – Spooky Halloween Train Ride

What – An alternative Halloween event for kids with a variety of activities to choose from. First Creepy Critter Halloween workshop where you can come face to face with creepy crawlies and different creatures. Learning all about fun gruesome facts about Venoms, Poisons, Fangs, Claws, Webs, Slime and Poo. Then there is the Scream Train which offers train rides around the vines. When – Times and dates are dependent on the activity chosen see the website for more details. The creepy critters workshop is on the 30th October from 9.30 am to 11.45 am. The Halloween disco is running on 31st of October at several different times. The Scream Train runs from the 28th of October to 1st of November, at 10 am, 11 am and midday.

Thorpe Park – Fright Nights

What – Looking for something for older children then how about a haunted house or house of horrors to get you in the Halloween spirit? The scare attractions are aimed at children and adults over the age of 13 and include live actors. There are eight different scare attractions including a brand new I.T 4D Experience. Made up of three scare mazes, one scare experience and four scare zones. Plus two gruesome shows for the best Halloween experience. The rides are open as well which gives you the opportunity to ride some of the best rollercoasters in the UK in the dark. The lowest price ticket when brought online in advance costs £37 (£66 on the day) and includes park entry day and evening, plus the shows and the four scare zones. £71(£110 on the day) gets you all of the above plus access to the three scare mazes. Winkworth Arboretum – Autumn Magik

What – A fun-filled autumn trail based on Sarah the Spider children’s book. Can you help find all Sarah’s shoes and boots that have been hidden by the mischievous mice? Follow the children-friendly trail across the arboretum and find 8 activity stations themed around friendship and a very friendly spider who loves to dance. Reigate Ghost Walk

What – Death, murder and things that go bump in the night! The tour covers a combination of Reigate’s horrible history, paranormal activity and unexplained events. The tour lasts about 90 minutes and remember to bring a torch. https://www.reigateghostwalk.co.uk/home/

Squires Garden Centres

What – Looking Halloween event in Surrey that includes cute crafts? Squires Garden Centres are hosting two activities. Painting a ceramic tea light holder in the shape of a haunted tree or witches hat. Booking is essential for the painting. There is also a free witch’s trail around the garden centre, discover the magic word and receive a sticker. Create and Grow Spooky Activities.
When – During half term between the 28th of October to the 1st of November between 9 am and 1.30 pm. No booking is required each activity takes around 20 minutes.
Where – At Squire Garden Centres can be found in Leatherhead, Woking, Cobham, Farnham, Walton on Thames, Godalming, Surbiton, Reigate, and Shepperton. The Chertsey branch is not taking part in the Halloween activities. You can check details beforehand on the Squires Garden Centres website.
How much – It costs £6.50 to paint a tea light holder.

Gatton Park

What – Gatton Park is the best place for fun activities and Halloween events for younger kids over half term week.
Forest Fun – aimed at children aged 2-7 years old. Takes place in the Forest School area to explore Cedar Wood, make woodland crafts and enjoy a snack around the fire. Either at 10 am or 12 pm and costs £10. Running Monday 28th of October. Book in advance.
Trails and Tales Me & Mog – Listen to the story of “Meg and Mog” by Helen Nicoll and illustrated by Jan Pieńkowski with a craft activity, then explore a trail around the garden. Another final craft can be completed in the cabin or taken away. Ideal for children aged 2 – 4 years costs £8.50 per child. Running on Wednesday 30th October & Friday 1st November 10 am – 3 pm. Book in advance.
Autumn Colours Natural Art – For children aged 4-7 years. Using natural materials from around the park to make amazing masterpieces. Costs £8.50 per child. Running on Thursday 31st of October 10 am – 11.30 am. Book in advance.
Halloween Witches and Wizards. Halloween activities and a spooky trail around the grounds with a prize for the best costume. There will also be the ability to buy spooky treats and themed refreshments. Running on Sunday 27th of October 12 pm to 5 pm.
