18 of The Best Halloween Events in Sussex 2024

UPDATED September 2024: The boys love to celebrate Halloween so we are always on the hunt for fun things to do, especially over the Halloween half-term break. We always try to go pumpkin picking in Sussex and have at least one spooky day out during the October half-term. We are lucky that there are so many Halloween events for kids near me locally here in Sussex. I have pulled together a list of 18 of the best Halloween events in Spooky Sussex for 2024 which will make great days out for the Halloween season.

Halloween Events in Sussex 2024

If you live in Sussex and you are looking for Halloween events for kids near me then we have you covered. When reading through if there are Halloween attractions which I have not included here that you know of. If you think should be included then please mention them in the comments below and I will get them added. Where possible I have included prices and details correct as of September 2024. However, some places may not have released all the information. So make sure you check the individual website before attending. 

Tulleys Shocktober Event

• What – Probably the best-known Halloween Event in Sussex. A series of different scary and haunted attractions is definitely aimed at teenagers and adults. Although they do have daytime pumpkin picking for the younger ones with more sensibly themed photo opportunities. While Tulley’s Farm Shocktober Event covers 12 different attractions with various live actors whose only mission is to freak you out! Including haunted corn mazes, live music, street theatre, clowns at the electric circus, towns, islands, prisons and so much immersive scenery you will wonder if you are still in Crawley. Tulleys Shocktober Fest has been running now for over 25 years it is extremely popular with sellouts common. Each year a new attraction is revealed. • When – Runs from the opening night 4th of October to the 2nd of November for the fireworks finale. They also have Pumpkin Fright Nights which is more suitable for younger visitors.
• Where – Tulleys Farm, Turners Hill Road, Turners Hill, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 4PE
• How Much – Prices vary from £39.95 for park entry and all attractions to £250 season ticket! The most popular ticket which gives you entry to all 12 haunts or attractions is their scream pass for £39.95. Tickets have to be booked in advance. 

 

Fishers Farm Park – Halloween Happy Hauntings

• What – The perfect place for the whole family, it includes a general Halloween theme throughout the farm park. Think pumpkins and Halloween iced biscuits. As well as all the giant play areas outside and inside, soft play, the farm animals, animal encounters and tractor rides. There is also the ghost train which takes you through a spooky tunnel and Halloween trails. And new for this year is the ‘Little Boo Barn’ to see magical creatures and enchanting sights. Finish the day by taking part in the spooktacular family disco and dance the monster mash. https://fishersfarmpark.co.uk/events/
• When – Spooky Halloween week is over October half term – 26th October to 3rd of November 10 am to 5 pm
• Where – Fishers Farm Park, Newpound Lane, Wisborough Green, West Sussex, RH14 0EG
• How Much – Tickets need to be booked online in advance with a saving of £3 per ticket. under 2s are free, 2-year-old and older people (60+) are £17.95, and everyone else is £19.95. Annual membership is available.

 

Weald & Downland Museum – Fire & Light

• What – Get involved in the Halloween spirit as you explore the Museum and go back in a time warp. They have a storyteller sharing some Ghost stories and tales from the Great Fire of London, you can also learn about the art of potion-making. As well as the special trail you will also be able to enjoy all the rich history that the museum has to offer. The museum focuses very much on English social history and farming. • When – Over October half term – 28th October to 1st November 10 am to 5 pm.
• Where – Weald & Downland Living Museum, Town Lane, Singleton, West Sussex PO18 0EU
• How Much – Tickets need to be pre-booked on the website, family tickets of two adults and up to three children cost £46.50 with gift aid or £42.00 without. Reduced family tickets are available for grandparents and grandchildren and one adult family. Adult tickets cost £17.50/£15.50 and children £8.50/£7.50. Children aged four and under are free. 

 

RM Events – Dr Frankenslime’s Spooktacular Halloween

• What – A spooky theatre show, where the mad doctor will make spooky chemical reactions in his laboratory using gas, water and even fire. Aimed at children from 4-8 the show is filled with laughs and impressive science experiments. Includes some audience participation. For adults, RM Events also holds various murder mystery shows both in Eastbourne but also at Arundel Jailhouse. • When – Running on 28th and 29th of October only at 11.00am.

• How Much – Tickets cost £9 for an adult, £6 for a child, a family of 3 £16, and a family of 4 £25

 

Amberley Museum – Halloween Evening & Ghost Train

• What – Back for another year Amberley Museum is running its annual ghost train and look out for what is lurking in the woods! Discover the 36-acre Museum after dark with all exhibits open for exploring 6.30 pm – 9 pm. There is a spooky ghost walk where you can learn about their ghostly happenings. Halloween evening is only suitable for those over the age of 12. But they also have other Halloween activities during half term which are suitable for younger participants. Including a family-friendly trail to find out more about spiders. There are also craft events and wood turning on selected days. https://www.amberleymuseum.co.uk/whats-on/
• When – 26th/27th/30th October & 1st-3rd November with Halloween evening being held on the 26th October
• Where – Amberley Museum, New Barn Road, Amberley, Near Arundel, West Sussex, BN18 9LT
• How Much – Tickets can be booked online in advance and it is recommended for weekends, holidays and when they are running special events. This is to ensure there is a car park space. If you are travelling by train you do not need to pre-book. A family of two adults and up to three children costs £49.50 or £45 with gift aid. Adults £19.50/£17 and children aged 5-16 £9.50/£8.50. Under 5s are free.  Tickets for the evening event with the ghost train are £15 per person and must be booked in advance.

 

Battle Abbey Family Quest

• What – Gather your little monsters for a ghoulishly good day out at Battle Abbey this half term. Follow the quest to solve creepy clues and gather around to listen to spooky stories. With costumed performers telling tall tales of the strange, the supernatural and the downright silly. There are lots of spooky stuff to see and do and tickets are even cheaper (15%) if you book in advance. https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/whats-on/
• When – Over October half term – 26th October to 3rd November 10 am to 4 pm.
• Where – High Street, Battle, TN33 0AE
• How Much – Free entry for English Heritage members, adult tickets cost £16, children £9.50, and a family ticket £41.50

 

Blackberry Farm Park 

• What – There is a Scarecrow Tractor Trail with an anagram to spot for a tasty treat from the driver. A pumpkin patch and pumpkin carving, a mystery maze and a bump-in-the-night barrel ride. A spooky egg hung will give you a trick or a treat. Face painting will also be available. Along with all the Halloween activities, Blackberry Farm Park also offers a variety of activities and animal talks to keep little ones interested throughout the day. Including indoor and outdoor play areas, tractor rides, animal handling, pony rides, and a whole host of farm animals. • Where – Blackberry Farm, Whitesmith, Lewes, BN8 6JD
• How Much – Tickets can be booked online in advance up until 9 am on the day of arrival. If not you can take your chances and buy them at the gate. Tickets for Blackberry Farm Park are £15 per person for those aged two and above. This includes access to the Halloween activities. Pumpkins will cost extra (£5.75) this does not include pumpkin carving which needs to be booked in advance and costs £10.75 including the pumpkin. Pony rides can be booked upon arrival. There is no parking charge but spaces are limited.

 

Halloween at Leonardslee Gardens 

• What – Waiting on details to be released for 2024. Discover the story of Merlin the wizard and Adria the Wicked Witch in their Halloween trail.  A tale of timeless magic and wonder and the key to unlocking its mystery can be found along our pumpkin trail see if you can stop Adria the wicked witch from stealing the beauty of Leonardslee.  Collect the free activity sheet at reception. You will be able to meet and watch birds of prey including owls, hawks and falcons on the lawn next to Leonardslee House. 
• They are also running two Halloween craft sessions – Children’s Halloween Wreath Making on the 28th of October at a cost of £12 per child. Along with a Macrame Pumpkin Workshops suitable for those over the age of 10 on the 31st of October for £20 per person. Halloween afternoon tea is also available in the house for £50 per adult and £28 per child with two sittings a day at 1 pm or 3 pm – https://www.leonardsleegardens.co.uk/all-events/

• How Much – from £14.50 for adults, £6.50 for children a family ticket for one adult is £26 and for two £37.50. Under 5s are free. 

 

 

Washbrook Farm 

• What – Over the half term Washbrook Farm is running a spot the scarecrow competition with the chance to win prizes. Washbrooks Family Farm has everything you need, indoor play areas, outdoor play areas, pedal tractors to ride on and plenty of opportunities to get up close to farm animals. https://washbrooks.co.uk/whats-on/
• When – October half term open 9.30 am to 5 pm with the coffee shop closing at 4.30 pm
• Where – Washbrooks Family Farm, Brighton Road, Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex, BN6 9EF
• How Much – Children over three and adults cost £9, children up to 35 months are free, a group ticket for four costs £30.

 

Drusillas Park – Halloween Shriek Week

• What – One of our favourite Halloween Events in Sussex. There is so much going on, as well as pumpkins and decorations all over the park and a selection of Halloween sweet treats. There is Haunted Heights which is a live-action haunted house experience. Full of cobwebs and hocus pocus. Goulish face painting is also available. Mungo the mummy is waiting to meet you in the terror maze. On selected dates, there is also a sugar skull witch gliding around the park for some live action. • How Much – If you book tickets in advance you will save 20%. For everyone over the age of 2 years, tickets are £27.50 with the discount, with under 2s free. 

 

Plumpton Racecourse Outdoor Cinema 

• What – Hocus Pocus will be showing at the outdoor cinema at Plumpton Racecourse. There will be food and drinks available although unless you buy a VIP ticket you will need to bring your own chair. • Where – Plumpton Racecourse, Plumpton, Lewes, BN7 3AL
• How Much – Tickets are available through Event Bright and cost £4.76 (with a booking fee each) although you will also need to pay an additional £5 for children, £10 for adults or £30 for a family at the door. The event will sell out due to limited availability.

 

The Hawth – The Greatest Week

• What – Something completely different. Do you love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Matilda? Fantastic Mr Fox? If the answer is yes, then you’ll love this Roald Dahl inspired week! Visit The Hawth for a fun-filled week of singing, dancing and acting as you stage a performance inspired by all things Roald Dahl. This week-long workshop is designed for children aged 7-14. The week ends with a performance for family and friends on a Friday afternoon. Bringing some famous characters to life. Half Term Workshop.
• When – Monday 28th October between 10.30 am to 3.30 pm in the Studio

• How Much – The week-long workshop costs £110 and includes 4 tickets for the afternoon performance

Borde Hill Gardens – Academy of Witches & Wizards

• What – This Halloween half term, bring your family to a spooktacular costume party at Foolish Mortal Mansion. Don your creepiest outfits and come along if you dare… it’s going to be a Halloween party to remember! Young witches and wizards can explore the Garden on a daily story trail, Along the way, meet some of the dubious characters who live at the Mansion and find out ‘whodunnit’! The trial is suitable for children aged 3-8 years. The trial costs an additional £4 per child. Each child will receive a prize at the end. They are also running a number of different daily fun activities from the 28th of October to the 2nd of November, including magic shows, meeting creepy crawlies, science shows and magic wand making sessions. • How Much – Garden admission must also be brought. Booking online in advance is recommended, adults cost £12, children £8, with family tickets from £27

 

Brighton Ghost Tour 

• What – The longest-running ghost tour in Brighton, covering a number of iconic buildings in the city and Victorian Brighton. Including The Black Lion, Old Steine, Town Hall and several of the best drinking pubs in Brighton. https://ghostwalkbrighton.co.uk/
• When – Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 7.30 pm, February through to December.
• Where – The ghost walk goes through the lanes and starts outside the Druid’s head
• How Much – There is no requirement to book, you just turn up. Adults are £12, concessions including under 16s are £8 and a family ticket of two adults and two children costs £32.

 

Wakehurst 

• What – This year Wakehurst is running a Nature Heroes trail. Join Pip, Bud and Sprout, as they set off across the gardens. Young explorers will discover their inner scientist to earn the Seed Seeker badge. Seek, spy, spot and sense your way through interactive activities as you journey across Wakehurst’s woodlands. https://www.kew.org/wakehurst/whats-on/nature-heroes
• When – Open 10 am to 4.30 pm with the trail running from 19th October to the 3rd of November
• Where – Wakehurst Kew Gardens, Ardingly, Haywards Heath, Sussex, RH17 6TN
• How Much – Adults cost £16.50, young people aged 17-25 £8.25, with children aged 16 and under free with a paying adult. Entry is free if you are a National Trust member. Although you still need to pay £10 for parking.

 

Sharnfold Farm – Spooktober Halloween Fun

• What – Find a spooky-themed trail and family activities including a Maize Maze. Dressing up and getting into the spirit of Halloween is highly recommended and a prize for the best costume will be awarded from photos uploaded onto their Facebook Page. There will also be a Halloween display for photos and the opportunity to carve your own pumpkin on selected dates. You need to book a time slot in advance at checkout. • How Much – Access to the farm costs £4.95 for anyone over the age of 3, and they have a super saver family ticket – just £16 for a family of 4. Both the trail and the pumpkin carving will need to be booked in advance. Carving costs £9.95 each.

The Theatre of Dark Encounters

• What – Based both in Sussex and in Hampshire, The Theatre of Dark Arts specialises in ghost walks and ghost stories in various locations. Including Chichester and Michelham Priory. There are various different stories and even a showing of Dracula. https://ghost-walks.com/events

Kidz With Attitude – Halloween Special

• What – Kidz With Attitude is back for a spo0o0oOky Halloween special with a Halloween party! The daytime club for kidz and guardians to break out their best moves and Halloween costumes on the dancefloor.
