AD Gifted – The boys were given a pair of school shoes for the purpose of this review
Review School Shoes from Start-Rite. The boys have been back at school for a few weeks now and thankfully are settling in well to the routine. They were both very keen to go back and see their friends, but it is amazing how quickly they grow. We have needed a new uniform and also new shoes. Which is where Start-Rite comes in. They have recently sent the boys both a new pair of school shoes to try out.
Start-Rite Dr Julie Smith’s 7 Point Plan
Not only that but Start-Rite are looking to support the return to routine further. Just speaking with some of the mums at the school gate I know that the return to school for some has created some anxiety. I am not surprised with everything that the children have had to deal with in the last twelve months. Even some of the boys’ behaviour has been indicating that they are not entirely happy with everything. So I was delighted to see that they have been working with Dr Julie Smith, a Clinical Psychologist and expert in mental health. To offer her advice on how to ease the transition back to school for both children and parents. Smith has worked with Start-Rite to create some helpful tips on how to spot behaviours that might show their child is anxious, but not sharing their concerns.
You can find out more information on their back to school hub.
Review School Shoes from Start-Rite
The boys had very specific requirements when it comes to school shoes! As Harry is still only in reception he needs something that is functional but easy for him to put on and take off himself. Charlie on the other hand is fast growing up and wanted something which was laces only.
With this in mind, Harry chose Rocket. As he liked the galactic inspired details an embossed rocket on the side of the shoe and glow in the dark feature of a planet on the rip-tape fastening. The glow in the dark has been a big hit. I like that the toe is enhanced to keep shoes looking smart and safe from scuffs, while the durable sole is flexible to encourage natural movement as he plays. It also comes with Air-Rite technology, which allows air to flow around the shoe. To help keep feet fresh without affecting the shoes ability to cope with changeable weather conditions. Avaliable in sizes S10 – L4, width fittings E-H they have an RRP of £47.99.
Charlie opted for Dylan. A much more grown-up shoe. It is in a moccasin style and is made of soft black leather. The shoe also comes with scuff-resistant toe protection to help shoes look school-ready for longer. And the all-important lace-up fastening for a comfortable fit. Avaliable in sizes L2 – L10, width fittings E-H they have an RRP of £54.99
In Summary – Review School Shoes from Start-Rite
The boys are both very happy with their new shoes. Although they have only been wearing them for a few weeks they have been holding up to the wear and tear that the boys put their footwear through. I will be updating this post in a few months time once we have really had a chance to put them through their paces.
How have your children settled back into school, please let me know in the comments below.

great quality shoes that last really well
Very well done for saying you will review the shoes in a few months time. So many sites are pressurizing for reviews as items are purchased, but with many things it is how they last that counts. With shoes for children it is more complicated because a growth spurt can make the shoes the wrong size in weeks, but equally sometimes feet don’t grow fora number of months.
Start rite do good shoes
This shoes sound great however I have a preteen and its style over comfort these days 😌
Both pairs look very smart! I still go for velcro with my boys at the moment, just for the ease of taking them on and off. The lace up shoes look sturdy and very grown up.
I think it’s so great that Start-rite are actively supporting children with their transition to back to school. Anxiety has definitely been a huge issue. Equally, there are those who are starting school in September to think about too. The shoes look great!
They certainly look strong and hard wearing, which is just what you need for youngsters
Love this brand too – the only ones that last at least a term
I swear by startrite shoes, they get so much wear out of them
What cute shoes! And they seem like great quality too!
When I was in school I used to go through so many pairs of shoes, need to check out Start Rite for my nephew.
A great range of shoes here to choose from
Seems like a very good buy… and wow, those are cute little feet. Hihi.
Great shoes and I didn’t know they had a vegan friendly range!
Those are cute shoes – Schools here in Belgium have only been closed for 3 weeks 🙂
great strong and hardwearing shoes
Great review of these Start-Rite shoes, they sound great for your boys, they look very smart too 🙂
Start Rite shoes are usually well made
I was aware of this brand but not the extras they offer. Excellent. Thank you.
Ooh I like those that charlie has. A bit like boat shoe fronts we used to have as teens. N always has StartRite now – ever since the local shops that used to do Hush Puppies closed. Our issue is that we don’t want trainer style and want lace ups, but there’s usually only 1 style of conventional school shoes in the range up to size 2, so if those come in his size now that’ll be an option. Hopefully next time he’ll be a 3 and can have more choice of lace ups.
