42 Firework Displays in Sussex 2024

Firework Displays in Sussex 2024. The boys love going to a firework display. Each year we try to visit one near to us. We are really lucky as there are so many different fireworks displays in Sussex to choose from. Many of the bonfire night events are organised by local charities, bonfire societies and small local communities so there is not always a huge amount of information available. If on reading this post you have more information on the spectacular firework displays in East Sussex or know of some other Firework Displays in West Sussex. Then please let me know and I will add their details to this article.

This year Guy Fawkes night falls on a Tuesday which means that many of the fireworks events will fall the Saturday before, the 3rd of November. Those fireworks events with processions will lead to road closures so it is worth checking these where you can. And to all locations, public transport is encouraged. Updated September 2024

Firework Displays in East Sussex

Let’s start with East Sussex. There are many different areas in East Sussex that hold local and community-organised Fireworks displays and Bonfire nights. I have done my best to find as many as possible for you in the East Sussex area this bonfire season.

South Heighton Bonfire Night

Details for 2024 have not been released yet follow the link below for an update
Ticket prices – Adults £5 Under 18’s Free (up to 3 per family)
You do not need to book in advance. Ticket sales are taken at the entry point on the night no advance sales.
There is no allocated parking and limited parking in the village area. The advice is to use public transport where possible.
This is a torchlight procession (approx 6.30 pm) starting place near the Flying Fish in Denton and proceeds to the Hampden Arms where there is a short break before heading to South Heighton recreation ground where you can enjoy fireworks from around 8 pm.

Rye & District Bonfire Society

Saturday 9th November– 4 pm – 10 pm
Ticket prices – Free Entry
You do not need to book in advance. Ticket sales are taken at the entry point on the night.
Gibbet Marsh car park is opposite where the processions start at Mason Road. Parking will be limited and within the village, so you may want to consider using public transport.
While the details state the event starts at 4 pm, this is when roads will start to close off so that the procession takes place. The route starts at Ferry Road to the Crown Inn, turn left into Cinque Ports Street, Tower Street, through Landgate Arch, Hilders Cliff (East Cliff) into High Street, The Mint, turn right into Wish Ward, Cinque Ports Street, Tower Street, left down Landgate, right into Bedford Place and on to the Bonfire site. The lighting of the bonfire at 8 pm and fireworks take place at 8.15 pm.

Ewhurst and Staplecross Bonfire Society

Saturday 26th October – 7pm – 9.30pm
Ticket prices – Adults and children are £2 each cash only
You do not need to book in advance. Tickets can be brought at the entry point on the night. With all monies going to local community charities.
There is no allocated parking and limited parking in the historic town. The advice is to use public transport where possible when visiting this bonfire event.
The procession will start outside the bowls club in Staplecross at 7.30 pm and makes its way through the village before making its final journey up to the bonfire field. You can join the procession or make your way to the bonfire field where food will be served. The fire will be lit and fireworks will likely take place between 8 pm – 8.30 pm. There is food available either outside the Cross Inn or on the bonfire field, burgers, hotdogs or candy floss as well as hot drinks.

Hastings Bonfire Night

Saturday 12th October– 6.30pm – 11pm
Ticket prices – Free Entry
This is the first big event of the season, supported by local businesses within the narrow streets of Hastings. There is no allocated parking but there are car parks along the route which you can see by clicking the link shared below. However, parking fills up fast so you may want to take public transport instead. The day starts with guy making at 9.30 am for young people (under 16s) at Strade Hall.
The processing starts at approximately 7.20 pm and makes its way to the beach where the grand finale takes place and an epic fireworks display can be enjoyed. The lighting of fireworks will usually be around 9.15 pm but the timings are approximate. There is also an effigy display. This is a no-ticket event but any support on the night will be appreciated. This is a very popular event and expect large crowds.

Heathfield Bonfire Night

Saturday 12th October – 7 pm
Ticket Prices – £3 per wristband for sale at various locations in the high street under 2s are free. These must be purchased in advance and cash only. See the event page for more details of where to purchase.
Heathfield holds a bonfire evening every year with an epic fireworks display. Each year they run a procession and gather at the playing fields near the Heathfield Community Centre to enjoy the bonfire being lit and the brilliant fireworks display that takes place. Lewes Bonfire Night

Tuesday 5th November– 5 pm till late
Tickets – some societies will charge £10 for the firework display but the procession is free
There are six Lewes Bonfire society that make up the Lewes Bonfire Night Celebrations and probably the best known of all Sussex bonfires. This is a huge event and bonfire celebration that starts in the town centre. They each have their different traditions and what they do for the fireworks event. They also have different themes for dressing up within the torchlit procession, and will each have their own bonfire and fireworks display. The seven societies are as follows, Cliffe, Commercial Square, Lewes Borough, Neville, Southover, Waterloo and South Street. Make sure to stay a safe distance.
You can purchase tickets for each event from the relevant bonfire society. They will all take place on Saturday the 4th of November and the main procession routes will intertwine before heading to their designated bonfire society fire sites. Many of the public transport links into Lewes will not be running. The centre is closed to cars. Please make sure you check your routes before leaving. It is such a big celebration and the main event in East Sussex that there are measures are put in place by the event organisers to try and control numbers. This is not an event for small children. I went one year while at college which was a long time ago and it was pretty crackers then!

Brighton Lions Fireworks Extravaganza

No dates have been released for 2024 – keep an eye on the events section of their website (link below) for more details
Ticket prices – Children under 5 go free.
You do not need to book the firework night in advance but you can buy advance tickets. However, there will be options to buy tickets for the night.
There is free parking available at Brighton Racecourse where this event takes place.
The gates open at 6 pm and the epic fireworks display will take place at approximately 7.30 pm. There are refreshments and food available at the event and lots for you to see and do while you are there.

Preston Park Fireworks Display

No dates have been released for 2024
Ticket prices – No ticket information available. It is questionable if these will return having been cancelled twice in recent years due to bad weather.
If there is a cost you will likely be able to pay on entry.
There is free parking available nearby but the parking for the park will fill up fast so you may need to park close by or consider public transport.
The gates open at 4 pm in the park for this incredible display which usually takes place around 8 pm. There will be lots going on in the park with refreshments and plenty of space to enjoy the bonfire and get a glimpse of the beautiful fireworks.

Brighton Cricket Ground

Saturday 2nd November – 5.30 pm – 9 pm
Ticket prices – Now on sale adults £15, under 16s £10 for standing tickets. Or £17.50 and £12.50 for seated tickets. Under 3s are free.
Live entertainment starts at 5.30 pm the display to start at 7.30 pm. Food and drink will be available from several vendors including hog roast. It is a cashless venue. There is also live music.
No tickets are available on the night, they must be pre-purchased

Selsey Fireworks Display – Finished

2022 was the last year you could see Selsey Fireworks the committee has now retired.

Battle Bonfire Night

Saturday 2nd November– 7.30 pm till 9.30 pm
Ticket prices – No information in regards to prices
If there is a charge it will be taken upon entry to the bonfire grounds where it will be lit
There will be parking close by and within the village area. However, you may want to consider using public transport as the roads close from 6 pm.
Run by the Battel Bonfire Boyes, with years of experience they are the oldest Bonfire Society in the World. The usual processions will take place in the evening where the final walk will head to Abbey Green where the huge bonfire will be lit and the fireworks display will shortly follow. In the morning there are various events around Children’s Guy and Fancy dress competitions.

Firle Bonfire

Saturday October 26th – 7.30 pm – 10 pm
Ticket prices – Adults £10, children £5 and families £20
There is free parking available in the field next to the bonfire location. Stewards will be on hand to help with car parking during Firle fireworks.
One of the oldes firework events in East Sussex. The usual procession from the society will take place around 7 pm and the bonfire will then be lit before the firework display starting around 9 pm. There will be plenty of refreshments available and an epic fireworks display to enjoy.

Firework Displays in West Sussex

There are many different areas in West Sussex that hold local and community-organised Fireworks displays and Bonfire nights. I have done my best to find as many as possible for you in the West Sussex area.

Horsham Rugby Club

Saturday 2nd November– 5 pm – 10 pm
Ticket prices – Advance single £7, Under 5’s Free Family Ticket £25 (2 adults, and 2 under 12’s, under 5’s free)
Advance tickets at those prices. You may be able to pay on that day.
There is free parking available in the surrounding area.
This is a great event with food stalls, a fun fair, and an epic bonfire and the best fireworks display to take place. The gates open at 5 pm and you can enjoy everything from that time. You would be advised to buy advance tickets for this one. The family ticket works out great value.

Horsham Sports Club

Saturday 26th October – 5 pm – 10 pm
Ticket prices – Early bird £7 On the gate £15 Under 5’s Free but you still need a ticket for little ones.
Early bird prices are much more value for money.
There is free parking available and in the surrounding area.
This is a wonderful family event to attend. Vintage fairground rides for the children and polenta of food and drinks stalls for the adults. The amazing firework displays will take place around 7.30 pm so make sure you get there in plenty of time. This is a popular firework display and the road running up to the club will be closed from 4.30 pm.

Mannings Heath Fireworks Display

Friday 1st November– 5 pm – 9 pm
Ticket prices – Adults £12, Children 6-16 £7, Under 5’s Free
Discounts are available for members of the golf club. They are also offering dinner and fireworks for £59 per person. The VIP experience includes bubbles, canopies, 2 courses and hot chocolate to enjoy while the display is on.
There is free parking available in the surrounding area. Includes live music.

Bonfire night at The Kennels – Goodwood

Friday 1st November, Saturday 2nd November and Tuesday 65h November– 6.30 pm – late
Ticket prices – Dinner tickets are £85 for adults | Field tickets are £40 for adults – Children under 3 go free. Members Only Event
Children are classed aged 4-15. 16 or over will need to purchase an adult ticket.
There is free parking available in the surrounding area.
This is a great option to consider with two very different events. You can enjoy a more civilised approach to watching the fireworks and bonfire in the dining room with good food and lots of drinks. Children are very welcome with face painting provided. Or for a more laid-back approach, you can purchase a field ticket where you can enjoy the festivities with food vendors available and lots to see and do. Live music and a live band are also available. There really is something for the whole family.

Heyshott Bonfire night

Tuesday 5th November– 6.30 pm till 9.00 pm – TBC for 2023
Ticket prices – Suggested minimum donation of £5 per adult.
If there is a charge it will be taken upon entry to the bonfire grounds where it will be lit – cash only event.
There will be parking close by and within the village area. However, you may want to consider using public transport.
The usual traditional procession will take place but upon arriving on the bonfire grounds the kids will be entertained with a Punch and Judy show. There is also the epic fireworks display to enjoy and refreshments available.

Wadhurst Bonfire Night

Saturday 2nd November– 5.30 pm – 9 pm
Ticket prices – Adults £9 Children £4.50 Under 5’s Free
Run by the Wadhurst Warriors, advance tickets are recommended to be purchased online.
There will be parking close by and within the village area. However, you may want to consider using public transport. You can also use a shuttle bus which is departing at 5 pm from Wadhurst station. It will then take you back at 9 pm. This is a free service to use.
The bonfire will be lit as well as there being plenty of refreshments available and lots to enjoy. The fireworks display will take place at approximately 7.30 pm. It is advised to buy tickets online to avoid disappointment and there will be the opportunity to use contactless payments while you are there. Food and drink, including a gin bar will also be available onsite.

Cuckfield Bonfire and Fireworks to music

Saturday 2nd November – 4.30 pm – 9 pm
Ticket prices – £10 for adults, £5 for children and £28 for a family available to buy in advance via their website.
Advance tickets are recommended to be purchased online.
There will be parking close by and within the village area. However, you may want to consider using public transport.
Taking place in Cuckfield park you will find this epic fireworks display to music and a bonfire. There will be refreshments available in the evening and under fives are free to enter. The fireworks will take place at around 7.30 pm. There is no alcohol on site.

Linfield Fireworks Display

Tuesday 5th November – 5 pm – 10 pm
Ticket prices – details have not been released for 2024 yet. Although this is normally a free event. Programmes for £1 can now be purchased from their website to help with funding. Lindfield Bonfire Society are looking for helpers via their Facebook page.

Barnham Fireworks Night

2022 was the last year you could see Barnham Fireworks the committee has now retired.

Ardingly Firework Display

Friday 8th November – 6 pm -8 pm
Ticket prices – £8 per person bookable from the 14th of October
Located at Ardingly College in Haywards Heath. There will be parking close by and within the village area. However, you may want to consider using public transport.
This is a great event for anyone local to the community and takes place at the college. It also holds a street food festival with up to 17 different vendors to choose from. As well as the fireworks display that will take place at approximately 7.30 pm. Advance sales online.

Fontwell Park – Arundel

Saturday 19th October – 4 pm – 8 pm
Ticket prices – £28 for a family of four, individual admission prices are not listed
Fontwell racecourse is well known in Sussex for its themed firework display, meaning the event often sells out. A fantastic bonfire night event that is suitable for the whole family, and is a great reason to get wrapped up warm and enjoy a night of entertainment. 2023 the theme is Night of Colours and is a good option for a more commercial display. With some spectacular fireworks and on hand amenities.

Worthing Lions – Firework Display

Tuesday 5th November – 7 pm
Ticket Prices. This a free event although donations are welcome.
The fireworks will be let off at 7 pm safely from the end of the Pier on the South Coast. They are easily and safely seen from the Worthing promenade and beach (for fire safety Worthing pier is closed). Visit earlier and enjoy the fair and the local restaurants opening for pre and post-firework meals. Keep an eye on their facebook page for any changes.
