Being a working mum I really like to make our weekends count, which normally means that we are out and about adventuring as much as possible. Of course this can get expensive and with Kipper hurtling towards his second birthday at an alarming rate, it won’t be long until we have to pay for both of them. I always thought that this would likely reduce the number of ‘paid’ things we got up to.
However recently I have realised that this may not need to be the case, I have discovered I can start saving money now. How? Well Tesco Clubcard of course! To be honest although we shop at Tesco and have collected points for years on food and petrol. We have only ever exchanged our vouchers for things – such as a new tablet for Monkey one Christmas. I had never looked at any of their other offers. Now I am kicking myself!
We love the Sealife Centres and remember taking Monkey when he was tiny. Now if we get a chance we take Kipper, I had no idea that we could get a day entry for £5 per adult in Clubcard vouchers. Walk up on the door prices start at £22.50 so thats an amazing saving.
Legoland is one of Monkey’s favourite places ever and he often asks to go yet for us a family full price it would cost £180 if we went at peak times and brought tickets on the door. With Tesco Clubcard I can get an annual membership with Merlin for Legoland for £28 in vouchers! Thats £84 for us as a family for four (Kipper is still free) for the whole year. Less than half the price it would cost to walk up to the door and buy tickets on the day. I am totally kicking myself around why I did not realise this before now!
Its not just big names either, on the website you can find a list of 292 ‘days out’ to spend your vouchers on. If you are regular readers of Mudpie Fridays then you will know that I am trying to go away one weekend a month for quality family time adventuring… In February we went to Warwick Castle and we also went to the Stratford Upon Avon Butterfly Farm. Both of these attractions can be paid for with club card vouchers. So next time we are planning our weekend away I will be using their search facility to see what local deals I can find.
But its not only days out, you can also spend your vouchers on eating out. We are big fans of Italian food especially after our recent trip so I was pleased to see that in many of the big High Street brands such as Zizzi, Bella Italia and ASK Italian offer 4 x the value with £2.50 of club card vouchers being exchanged for £10 to spend in the restaurant. Its simple to exchange them too, all you do is click on add to basket, select the amount you want and then the vouchers are delivered by email straight to your inbox. They have a great little tool which will tell you the restaurants nearby who are participating. Its possible to search under all restaurants or if you fancy something in particular you can also search under a specific brand name.
These are the two most likely ways we would use our Tesco Clubcard vouchers going forward, but you can also use them for money off Travel and Holidays as well. Not to mention using them in store for money off your shopping. Wouldn’t it be nice to save them up knowing that the majority of your Christmas shop will be paid for. Especially at that busy time of year? Or that the kids Christmas presents are essentially in the bank? You get 1 point for every £1 spent and when you drive as many miles as I do for work that soon adds up. Add this to your weekly shopping budget and the points soon add up.
Tesco have also recognised how technology is changing. I remember when contactless first came in for bank cards. I thought to myself … I am never going to use that! Now I find myself cursing if a shop doesn’t offer it! Juggling two kids one of which is a toddler and into everything, plus the shopping having to wait for the machine to let me enter my pin… just tap and go! So. much easier. Tesco have been rolling out new contactless cards to everyone. Plus theres a great app which shows you exactly how many points you have in your account. A great motivator for that next treat, be it a day out, meal out, discount on an adventure or just that luxury branded bubble bath that you’ve promised yourself.

Oh wow I can’t get over the Legoland savings with the Tesco vouchers!! I collect up my Tesco vouchers too but usually use them in store. I must look into attractions near us to see, there might be better deals! x

How did I now know about the Legoland saving, that’s amazing! Legoland is so close to us yet we don’t go that often as it’s really expensive for us. I better get saving!

I love using my clubcard vouchers on meals out, now my little one is getting older I’m going to start using them on fab days out!
I dont shope at Tesco because there are no stores close, though we do have a large Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Asda – shame!

I haven’t used my card for ages as we shop with Sainsbury’s now but there’s loads of benefits with club card clearly. I do love the Tesco range of kids clothes, they have survived a lot of abuse at nursery! X #bloggerclubuk

Clubcard exchanges are awesome, I found this out a couple of years ago where I got 4 people into a local attraction with just £5 worth of clubcard vouchers – it would normally have cost £40!

We’ve used tesco vouchers for loads of things – the best has to be annual passes for Legoland Windsor. We’ve used them for the tower of london twice, london eye, several hotel stays. It’s great value. #bloggerclubuk

I’ve been using the Tesco clubcard deals for a couple of years now and have enjoyed some great days out for a quarter of the price they would normally cost.
We’ve had a few lovely days out courtesy of tesco clubcard points
We save up too. There is 5 of us so it can be quite pricey to go out and I must say exchanging the clubcard points enabled us to visit lots of places. Our favourite was Whipsnade Zoo.
Like you, we shop at Tesco and we have had some amazing free trips with our Clubcard vouchers. We particularly like staying at excellent hotels in London.

I love the fact that Tesco allow you to use their Club Card points for all different purposes, not just on shopping in-store. We have been using them for treats and days out for a while now, and it’s great!
