It is that time of year again when everything starts to look festive and we make plans for Christmas time. One of our Christmas traditions is to go to a family pantomime near me in Sussex. We are really fortunate as we have a splendid theatre in the town where we live. So we normally visit between Christmas and New Year. During Pantomime season 2022 there are over twenty-five Pantomimes in West Sussex and East Sussex. Giving lots of choices when it comes to Pantos in Sussex.

Likewise, when this post went live at the end of November there were still tickets available for all the Christmas shows mentioned. However many do sell out so if you come across ones this festive season that have then let me know and I will update the post.
Pantomimes in West Sussex
Here is the wide choice of Pantmomines in West Sussex this year. Including Pantos in Chichester and Pantos in Worthing. Where there is a recommended age range I have included this in the description. Which is the case for some of the Christmas Show for younger children. I have also stumbled across some Christmas ballets which I have also included. Let me know your favourite Panto in West Sussex.
Chichester Festival Theatre
- Theatre Show – Wind in Willows

- Show times – One show a day at either 2 pm or 7 pm. Relaxed performances are avaliable.

Chichester Minerva Theatre – for younger children
- Children’s Theatre Show – Dear Santa Live
- Location – Minerva Theatre, Oaklands Way, Chichester, PO19 6AP
- Dates – 17th to 31st December recommended for ages 2 – 7 years
- Show times – Runs for 50 minutes with the opportunity for local children to meet and greet Santa. One show a day at either 10.30 am, 1.30 pm or 4.30 pm.
- Prices – Tickets cost £16 each

The Dome Cinema Worthing
- Pantomine – CBeebies Panto: Dick Whittington and his Cat – This is a film not a stage show
- Location – The Dome Cinema, 21-22 Marine Parade, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 3PT
- Dates – First two weekends in December – the 3rd & 4th and the 10th & 11th.
- Show times – Two showings per day at 10 am and 12 pm, runs for 70 minutes and is rated a U.
- Prices – Adult £6.70, child (2-15 years) £5 or a family £5 each sold in multiples of four.
- Starring – CBeebies is once again taking to the stage for Christmas 2022, with a unique adaptation of Dick Whittington and His Cat. Recorded in front of a live audience at Eastbourne’s Congress Theatre, the show will be bursting with memorable songs, festive fun, and a host of CBeebies stars, making it a theatrical treat for the whole family. The audience will join our heroes as they travel to London for the Lord Mayor’s Christmas parade, only to discover a trio of cheeky rats intent on ruining everyone’s fun. Can Dick and his cat save the parade with the help of all their CBeebies Friends?

Worthing Pavilion Theatre
- Pantomime – Jack and the Beanstalk
- Location – Pavilion Theatre, Marine Parade, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 3PX
- Dates – Runs from the 1st of December to the 2nd of January
- Show times – vary throughout the month, normally two shows a day.
- Prices – 10% Members discount on premium and standard tickets excluding Golden Week and access performances. The performances on Tue 6 Dec and Fri 9 Dec at 2 pm are ‘Mince Pie Performances’. Senior tickets are available for these shows at the discounted rate of £10 and include a Mince Pie and a hot drink in the interval. Prices vary depending on the show and where in the theatre your seats are. They range from £10 to £25.50. With family tickets either £76 or £86 for four.

- Prices – Adults £18, children £17 and a family ticket of two adults and two children costs £68. Each ticket comes with a booking fee of £1 which is capped at £5.
- Starring – Produced once again by LP Creatives who have been Ropetackle panto producers for the past 10 years.
- After pricking her finger on an enchanted spinning wheel, Sleepy Jean is put under a cruel spell and made to sleep for a hundred years. Only true love and a handsome Prince can break the spell before time runs out.

The Hawth Crawley

- Dates – Selected dates from the 9th of December to the 2nd of January 2023
- Show times – vary depending on the day chosen. Morning shows run at 10.30 or 11 am, afternoon shows at 2 or 2.30 pm and evening shows at 5.30, 6.30 or 7 pm. Relaxed performances are avaliable.
- Prices – Vary depending on the date chosen. There is a colour-coded chart avaliable on the website with prices ranging from £26 on a blue day to £39.50 on a purple day. Group discounts are avaliable on some days.
- Starring – This swashbuckling adventure stars Rita Simons (EastEnders) as the dastardly Captain Hook and Karim Zeroual(Strictly Come Dancing and CBBC) as Peter Pan.

- Show times – Two shows a day, 11 am and 3 pm. Includes a 15-20 minute drawing session at the beginning and a meet and greet at the end.

- Starring – Mrs Scrooge is miserable and it’s up to the children to try and cheer her up! Guided by a Rock Star Tree, a helpful Mouse and a very noisy Dustbin Lady, the children must help bring a smile to Mrs Scrooge’s face.

- Show times – they do vary but tend to be 1 pm and 5 pm shows each day with a special Christmas Eve morning performance at 10.30 am.

- Starring – No details – Aladdin and her friends will be flying onto the stage with a tale of bravery, friendship, love, and exciting carpet rides. With the usual slap-stick silliness throughout!

- Starring – This show takes place in the Studio which is a smaller venue ideal for little ones. Run time is 50-60 minutes with a meet and greet with Santa after.

Regis Centre & Alexandra Theatre
- Pantomine – Beauty & The Beast
- Location – Belmont Street, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, PO21 1BL
- Dates – Wednesday 7 December to Sunday 1 January
- Show times – vary depending on the date selected generally 11 am, 3 pm and 7 pm. Relaxed performances are avaliable
- Prices – Adults cost £19.50, under 16s £18.50 and a family of four costs £72
- Starring – Meet the beautiful Belle and her ‘inventor’ mother as they embark on an adventure which sees them both taken prisoner by the evil Beast in the castle. Will Belle be rescued in time? Will the Beast find true love before the final petal falls from his rose bush?

East Sussex
With some very well-known theatres across East Sussex, there is no surprise that there are a number of brilliant Pantomimes appearing in East Sussex this year. As many of the theatres are putting on different Pantomime classics giving you lots to choose from.
Where there is a recommended age range I have included this in the description. I have also stumbled across some Christmas ballets which I have also included. Let me know your favourite Panto in East Sussex.
The Brighton Centre
- Pantomime – Aladdin
- Location – Kings Road, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 2GR
- Dates – Runs from the 22nd of December to the 27th of December. There is no performance on Christmas Day. This is a rescheduled show from 2021 and 2021 tickets are still valid.
- Show times – Varies depending on the day chosen, see the website below for more information
- Prices – Depends on the tier chosen and vary from £15 to £35. Some tiers allow reduced prices for those under 16s and over 65s. Tickets brought directly from the Brighton Centre Box Office are the cheapest and avoid the 11.5% ticket master booking fee.
- Starring – Featuring a hugely talented West End cast including Anita Dobson (Frozen, Chicago, Thoroughly Modern Milly, Hello Dolly!, Calendar Girls. Anita also starred as former Eastender Angie Watts), Mark Inscoe (Evita, Sweeney Todd, Priscilla – Queen of the Desert, Phantom of the Opera, Anything Goes, The Rat Pack – Live from Las Vegas, Sunset Boulevard, Funny Girl), alongside BBC Radio Sussex presenter Allison Ferns.

Theatre Royal Brighton

- Dates – 3rd of December to the 11th of December
- Show times – 7.30 pm on weekday evenings and Saturdays with a matinee on Sunday
- Prices – Purchases made through AIG tickets. Prices are dependent on the location within the theatre and range from £32 to £65 each
- Starring – Ian McKellen as Mother Goose and Ian Bishop as her husband Vic

The Meridian Centre Peacehaven

- Starring – West End performer and Olivier Award winner Miles Western as Abanazaar, supremely talented Tiffany Tsang as the Princess. Leonardo Vieira as Genie of the Lamp, Martyn Knight’s returning for his 19th Eastbourne pantomime as Widow Twankey, plus comic Tucker as hapless son Wishee Washee. Katherine Glover’s back as the hero in high boots, Aladdin, following her last outing in Jack and the Beanstalk in 2020 Rebecca Lisewski as Genie of the Ring and completing the cast Adam Shorey as ‘high-tech’ comedy Policeman PC World.

Peak-time tickets are £17.50 and they also offer family tickets which cost £46-58 depending on the date chosen. Santa will be in his Grotto before all performances prior to Christmas Day. Add on a Grotto ticket to your booking for just £6.50 (includes a present)

- Starring – This Christmas, join an immersive magical journey and experience the heartwarming tale of The Snowman, screened with a live orchestra. A BAFTA-winning classic, featuring the song “Walking in the Air”, The Snowman is a cinematic gem of Raymond Briggs’ story with music by Howard Blake, performed live for you by Orpheus Sinfonia as we bring the magic to life this Christmas.

- Show times – Most days have two show times which are generally 1 pm and 5 pm. Although morning shows are available at the beginning of the season. Relaxed and sign language performances are available.
- Prices – Vary depending on the show and where you sit in the theatre. The best seats during peak times are £33. Although there are tickets as low as £20 on other days. There is also a £2 reduction for concession, family discounts and group discounts available.
- Starring – X Factor stars Amelia Lily and Andy Abraham join the cast of this year’s magical pantomime as The Enchantress and Mr Crust.
